Several highest points of the Brazilian states are unnamed and are better known by the mountain range they are in. The highest point in Brazil is Pico da Neblina, in Amazonas, at 2,994 metres (9,822 feet), which ranks the country as 69th by highest point.

As determined by a border survey expedition in 1962, its summit lies just within Brazilian territory, at a horizontal distance of only 687 m (2,254 ft) from the Venezuelan border at Pico 31 de Março. It is a common misconception to refer to this mountain as the highest point in South America outside the Andes while ignoring the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in Colombia.

Pico da Bandeira, or Bandeira Peak, is the third highest mountain in Brazil, situated on the border of Espírito Santo and Minas Gerais states. It is the highest point in both states. It was considered the highest mountain in Brazil until 1965, when Pico da Neblina and Pico 31 de Março, next to the Venezuelan border, were explored, measured, and both found to be higher. The peak is said to have been so named after Pedro II, Emperor of Brazil, ordered a flag to be flown on top of it. Pico da Bandeira is ranked 21st by topographic isolation.

Pico da Neblina National Park is a national park in the state of Amazonas in the north of Brazil, bordering on Venezuela. The park includes lowlands around the Rio Negro, partly flooded, and mountains that include the highest peak in Brazil, after which the park is named. The wide variety of physical environments supports great biodiversity, including several endangered species.

Its estimated population is 80,616 inhabitants (2020) and the total area of the municipality is 3,344 kmª. The city lies at an altitude of 633 metres. Curvelo takes its name from the Brazil-born Portuguese priest Antônio Corvelo de Ávila, when the parish of Santo Antônio da Estrada e o Padre Antônio de Ávila Curvelo was founded in the 18th century.

It is part of a short spur of the southwestern section of the Mantiqueira Mountains, and it has an elevation of 2,420.7 metres (7,942 ft).
