First section in 1976, then expansions in 1980, 1981, 1984 and 1990. It is usually marked blue. According to schedule, it runs along in 31 minutes.
There is a planned extension towards Káposztásmegyer to the northeast and Budapest Ferihegy International Airport to the southeast.
Line M4 was originally scheduled to be complete around 2005, but, as there were numerous political debates over it, not to mention a number of civilian protests against tunnelling at certain parts of the city, building only started in 2005 and the completion date was rescheduled to 2012 or 2013. The line opened to the public at noon on 28 March 2014.
There are plans to extend the line north towards Újpalota, and south towards Budaörs.

Nagykörút or Grand Boulevard is one of the most central and busiest parts of Budapest, a major thoroughfare built by 1896, Hungary's Millennium. It forms a semicircle connecting two bridges of the Danube, Margaret Bridge on the north and Petőfi Bridge on the south. Usually the part inside and around this semicircle is counted as the city centre of Budapest.
Kiskörút or Small Boulevard is a major thoroughfare in Budapest. It forms an incomplete semicircle between Deák Square and Fővám Square. It is the border of the southern part of District 5, the innermost district of Pest. As opposed to Nagykörút, it only touches the Danube at its southern end.
Csepel, officially known as the 21st District of Budapest is a district and a neighbourhood in Budapest, Hungary. Csepel officially became part of Budapest on 1 January 1950.
The Budapest Metro is the rapid transit system in the Hungarian capital Budapest. It is the world's oldest electrified underground railway system, and the second oldest underground railway system with multiple stations, after the originally steam-powered London Underground.
The Deák Ferenc square, named for Ferenc Deák, is a major intersection and transport junction in Budapest. Károly körút, Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út, Király utca, Deák Ferenc utca, and Harmincad utca converge here. Three lines of the Budapest Metro each converge on the station under the square.
Újpest-központ is the northern terminus of the Budapest Metro Line 3. It is located beneath a busy intersection, the most important public transport hub in Újpest district.
Kálvin tér is a major square and intersection in the city center of Budapest, the capital of Hungary. It was named after the French Protestant Reformer John Calvin due to the large Reformed Church located there.
Kálvin tér is a transfer station on the M3 and the M4 lines of the Budapest Metro. It is located beneath the eponymous square, named after John Calvin. The Line 3 station was opened on 31 December 1976 as part of the inaugural section of Line M3 between Deák Ferenc tér and Nagyvárad tér. The Line M4 station was opened on 28 March 2014 as part of the inaugural section of the line, from Keleti pályaudvar to Kelenföld vasútállomás.
Astoria is a station of the M2 (East-West) line of the Budapest Metro, under the eponymous square, Astoria. The station was renovated from 2003 to 2004. It was opened on 2 April 1970 as part of the inaugural section of Line M2, between Deák Ferenc tér and Örs vezér tere.
Line 2 is the second line of the Budapest Metro. The line runs east from Déli pályaudvar in north-central Buda under the Danube to the city center, from where it continues east following the route of Rákóczi út to its terminus at Örs vezér tere.
Line 3 is the third and longest line of the Budapest Metro. It runs in a general north-south direction parallel to the Danube on the Pest side, roughly following Váci út south from Újpest to the city center, then following the route of Üllői út southeast to Kőbánya-Kispest. Its daily ridership is estimated at 500,000. Like metro line M1, it does not serve Buda.
Line 4 is the fourth line of the Budapest Metro. It opened on 28 March 2014.
The tram network of Budapest is part of the mass transit system of Budapest, the capital city of Hungary. The tram lines serve as the second most important backbone of the transit system, carrying almost 100 million more passengers annually than the Budapest Metro.
Hungária körgyűrű is the longest and busiest boulevard, also the widest city street in Budapest, Hungary. It's 13 km long and has 6-10 traffic lanes with a rapid tram line on the median of the boulevard. It consists of three parts: Róbert Károly körút, Hungária körút and Könyves Kálmán körút.
The North-south regional rapid railway is a railway construction plan in Budapest, modelled on the Paris RER or German S-Bahn systems. Its aim is to connect three of the Budapest Helyiérdekű Vasút (BHÉV) suburban train lines, from Szentendre, Ráckeve and Csepel. The plan is also called Metro 5.
Szent Gellért tér – Műegyetem(formerly Szent Gellért tér) is a station of Line 4 of the Budapest Metro. It is located beneath the eponymous square, named after St. Gerard, patron saint of Budapest. The station was opened on 28 March 2014 as part of the inaugural section of the line, from Keleti pályaudvar to Kelenföld vasútállomás. Artist Tamás Komoróczky was commissioned to design the mosaic interior decoration of the inner platform below the University of Technology and Economics. It is the deepest station on Line 4.
Route 200E(or Airport bus) is a bus route in Budapest. The line currently runs between the Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport and Kőbánya-Kispest. At night it runs to Határ út metro station. The route is served by BKK and operated by BKV Zrt.
The Tram Line 1 of Budapest is a line operated by BKK Zrt., the transport authority of Budapest. It was commissioned in 1984 between Bécsi út / Vörösvári út and Lehel utca. It then has numerous extension phases, which in 2000 make it possible to connect north to south of Pest along the great ring road, between the Árpád híd and Rákóczi híd bridges. Since March 2015, the line also crosses the Danube in its southern part, and it was further extended in 2019 to Kelenföld vasútállomás M. It now runs between Bécsi út / Vörösvári út and Kelenföld vasútállomás.
