Haikyu!! is an anime television series based on the manga series of the same name by Haruichi Furudate. The anime television series adaptation produced by Production I.G was announced on September 22, 2013. [1] The series is directed by Susumu Mitsunaka, with Taku Kishimoto handling series composition, Takahiro Kishida providing character designs, and Yuki Hayashi and Asami Tachibana composed the music. [2] [3] The story follows Shoyo Hinata, a boy determined to become a great volleyball player despite his small stature. It also focused on the Karasuno High School volleyball team and the relationship between players Hinata and Tobio Kageyama.

Contents

The first season aired from April 6 to September 21, 2014 on MBS, other JNN stations, and with English subtitles on Crunchyroll. [1] It has been licensed for digital and home video release by Sentai Filmworks. [4] [5] A second season aired from October 4, 2015, to March 27, 2016. [6] [7] A third season, [8] titled Haikyu!! Karasuno High School vs Shiratorizawa Academy (ハイキュー!! 烏野高校 VS 白鳥沢学園高校, Haikyū!! Karasuno Kōkō VS Shiratorizawa Gakuen Kōkō), [9] aired from October 8 to December 10, 2016. [10] [11] [12] Sentai Filmworks has also licensed the third season. [13]

A fourth season, titled Haikyu!! To The Top (ハイキュー!! TO THE TOP), [14] was announced at the Jump Festa '19 event, with a "kickoff event" for the new series being held on September 22, 2019. [15] [16] Masako Satō replaced Susumu Mitsunaka as director, with the returning staff from the previous seasons. [17] The fourth season premiered on January 11, 2020 on the Super Animeism block. [18] It was later announced that the fourth season would be split-cour, with the second cour supposedly to air in July 2020 but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [19] [20] The second cour aired from October 3 to December 19, 2020. [21] Crunchyroll simulcasted the fourth season. [22] Recently, the anime series ran for 85 episodes overall. The series uses fourteen different songs for credits music: seven opening themes and seven ending themes.

Multiple original video animation (OVA) episodes have been released. "The Arrival of Lev!" was released on November 9, 2014 following the first season, "Vs. "Failing Grades"" was released on May 2, 2016 following the second season, and "Special Feature! Betting on the Spring High Volleyball" was released on August 4, 2017 following the third season. Two new OVA episodes, "Land vs. Sky" and "The Path of the Ball" were released on January 22, 2020 at the beginning of the fourth season. [23]

An intense battle rages on at the Tokyo Qualifiers for the three remaining spots in the national volleyball competition. Nekoma High School, Fukurōdani High School, Nohebi Academy, and Itachiyama Academy all passionately strive to participate in the tournament. In the second semi-final, Nekoma was matched with Fukurōdani. Itachiyama and Fukurōdani respectively won both their sets and went to the finals, leaving behind Nekoma and Nohebi to compete for the final spot for the nationals.

The match between Nekoma and Nohebi continues with Nohebi in the lead with 16-13. Yaku may have sprained his ankle when he accidentally stepped on a spectator's foot and landed awkwardly. Nohebi who are targeting Shibayama as the weak link on the team. Kenma gives instructions and words of encouragement to his teammates, and they continue the match. Shibayama apologizes to the team for being unable to save the ball and Lev tells him that he is not Yaku. Both teams refuse to drop the ball. To avoid Lev's block, Kuguri spikes to the side and Shibayama receives the ball. Yamamoto spikes the ball against the blocker's hands and it ricochets out of bounds meaning the end of the match, and Nekoma has secured a spot to nationals. Meanwhile in the finals, Itachiyama edge out Fukurōdani with 2-1 set victory. Hinata received an email from Kenma stating that they have won and they will be heading for nationals.

Production I.G, Inc. is a Japanese animation studio and production enterprise. Headquartered in Musashino, Tokyo Production I.G was founded on December 15, 1987, by producer Mitsuhisa Ishikawa and character designer Takayuki Goto as "I.G Tatsunoko", a branch studio of the animation giant Tatsunoko Production, changing its name to the current Production I.G in September 1993. Medaka Box is a Japanese manga series written by Nisio Isin and illustrated by Akira Akatsuki. It was serialized in Shueisha's shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump between May 2009 and April 2013, with its chapters collected in 22 tankōbon volumes. The series follows Medaka Kurokami, Zenkichi Hitoyoshi, Kouki Akune and Mogana Kikaijima, who are the members of the student council, during their various adventures to honor suggestions presented by academy members in order to better the academy.

<i>Chihayafuru</i> Japanese manga series

Chihayafuru (ちはやふる) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yuki Suetsugu. It was serialized in Kodansha's josei manga magazine Be Love from December 2007 to August 2022, with its chapters collected in 50 tankōbon volumes. It is about a school girl, Chihaya Ayase, who is inspired by a new classmate to take up Hyakunin Isshu karuta competitively.

Made in Abyss is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Akihito Tsukushi. It has been serialized online in Takeshobo's digital publication Web Comic Gamma since October 2012, and has been collected in 12 tankōbon volumes. The story follows an orphaned girl named Riko, who finds and befriends a part-robot boy named Reg, and descends with him into the titular "Abyss" that leads deep into the Earth, in hopes of exploring it and finding her mother.

Hyper Projection Engeki: Haikyu!! is a series of 2.5D stage plays directed by Worry Kinoshita and written by Norihito Nakayashiki, based on the manga Haikyu!! by Haruichi Furudate. Since its debut in 2015, the series has amassed over 320,000 viewers during its run, spanning over a total of ten stage plays.

<i>Haikyu!!</i> season 3 Third season of Haikyu!! anime television series

The third season of Haikyu!! anime television series, titled Haikyū!! Karasuno High School vs Shiratorizawa Academy, is produced by Production I.G. and directed by Susumu Mitsunaka, with Taku Kishimoto handling series composition, Takahiro Kishida providing character designs, and Yuki Hayashi and Asami Tachibana composed the music. It adapted the second half of "Spring High Preliminary" story arc, with the exception of chapters 191–206 from the original manga series of the same name written by Haruichi Furudate. The season aired from October 8 to December 10, 2016. Sentai Filmworks has also licensed the third season.

The fourth and final season of Haikyu!! anime television series, titled Haikyū!! To the Top, is produced by Production I.G. and Masako Satō replaced Susumu Mitsunaka as director, with the returning staff from the previous seasons. The season was announced at the Jump Festa '19 event, with a "kickoff event" for the new series being held on September 22, 2019. It adapted the first half of "Tokyo Nationals" story arc from the original manga series of the same name written by Haruichi Furudate. The fourth season premiered on January 11, 2020 on the Super Animeism block. It ran for 25 episodes, with the first cour running weekly from January 11 to April 4, 2020; the second cour was supposed to air in July 2020 but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The second cour aired from October 3 to December 19, 2020. Crunchyroll simulcasted the fourth season.

The first season of Haikyu!! anime television series is produced by Production I.G and directed by Susumu Mitsunaka, with Taku Kishimoto handling series composition, Takahiro Kishida providing character designs, and Yuki Hayashi and Asami Tachibana composed the music. It adapted the "Karasuno High Team Formation" and "Interhigh" story arcs from the original manga series of the same name written by Haruichi Furudate. The series was announced in the manga's eighth volume, and aired from April 6 to September 21, 2014 on MBS, other JNN stations, and with English subtitles on Crunchyroll. The anime has been licensed for digital and home video release by Sentai Filmworks.

<i>Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor</i> Season of television series

Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor is a Japanese anime television series, based on Gambling Apocalypse: Kaiji, the first part of the manga series Kaiji by Nobuyuki Fukumoto. Produced by Nippon Television, D.N. Dream Partners, VAP and Madhouse, the series was directed by Yuzo Sato, with Hideo Takayashiki handling series composition, Haruhito Takada designing the characters and Hideki Taniuchi composing the music. The story centers on Kaiji Itō, an impoverished young man, and his misadventures around gambling.

<i>Kaiji: Against All Rules</i> Season of television series

Kaiji: Against All Rules is Japanese anime television series, based on Tobaku Hakairoku Kaiji, the second part of the manga series Kaiji, written and illustrated by Nobuyuki Fukumoto. Produced by Nippon Television, VAP and Madhouse, the series was directed by Yuzo Sato, with Hideo Takayashiki handling series composition, Haruhito Takada designing the characters and Hideki Taniuchi composing the music.

Taku Kishimoto is a Japanese anime screenwriter. After leaving Studio Ghibli, he was put in charge of screenwriting for Bunny Drop. Following its completion, he has worked on several series, some of which are Haikyu!!, Erased, and the remake of Fruits Basket.

<i>Vinland Saga</i> season 1 2019 Japanese television season

The Vinland Saga anime television series is based on the manga series of the same name by Makoto Yukimura. Twin Engine announced in March 2018 that the manga would receive an anime series adaptation, with the first season being produced by Wit Studio. The series is directed by Shūhei Yabuta, with Hiroshi Seko handling series composition, Takahiko Abiru designing the characters and Yutaka Yamada composing the music. The series focuses on Thorfinn, the young Iceland villager who aims to participate in wars like his retired father, Thors.
