<span class="mw-page-title-main">United States District Court for the Northern District of Indiana</span> United States federal district court in Indiana

The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana was created in 1928 by an act of Congress that split Indiana into two separate districts, northern and southern. As part of the act, the Northern District was divided into three divisions, South Bend, Fort Wayne, and Hammond. Appeals from this court are taken to the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. The court has eight judges and four magistrate judges. As of October 2021, the United States attorney is Clifford D. Johnson.

Notre Dame Law School is the law school of the University of Notre Dame. Established in 1869, it is the oldest continuously operating Catholic law school in the United States.

Robin Jean Davis is an American jurist who served on the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia. First elected to fill an unexpired term in 1996, Davis later won full twelve-year terms in 2000 and 2012. However, Davis retired before the end of her second full term in August 2018 after the West Virginia House Judiciary Committee named Davis in articles of impeachment during the Impeachment of the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia.

David Frank Hamilton is a senior United States circuit judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. He was previously a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana. On March 17, 2009, he became President Barack Obama's first judicial nominee when he was named for a seat on the Seventh Circuit. He was confirmed by the Senate on November 19, 2009, in a 59–39 vote.

Walter Emanuel Treanor was a United States circuit judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

During his two terms in office, President Harry S. Truman appointed four members of the Supreme Court of the United States: Chief Justice Fred M. Vinson, Associate Justice Harold Burton, Associate Justice Tom C. Clark, and Associate Justice Sherman Minton.

Franklin Dorrah Cleckley was an American law professor and judge. He was Arthur B. Hodges Professor of Law at West Virginia University College of Law. He taught at the law school from 1969 to 2013. He held the endowed professorship emeritus.

Francis Earl Gilkison was an American lawyer, politician, and judge who served as a justice of the Indiana Supreme Court from January 1, 1945, to February 25, 1955.

Frederick Eugene Rakestraw was an American lawyer, politician, and judge who served as a justice of the Indiana Supreme Court from January 7, 1966 to January 2, 1967.

Norman Frank Arterburn was an American lawyer, politician, and judge who served as a justice of the Indiana Supreme Court from May 23, 1955, to May 13, 1977.

Doris Lenea Pryor is an American lawyer who has served as a United States circuit judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit since 2022. She served as a United States magistrate judge for the Southern District of Indiana from 2018 to 2022.
