This is a list of players who scored over 100 goals in Major League Soccer , the top flight men's soccer league of the United States and Canada, dating back to its inaugural season in 1996. This list does not include goals scored in the MLS Cup Playoffs. Thirteen players have reached the milestone.
The first MLS player to reach 100 goals was Jason Kreis on August 13, 2005, with his goal in Real Salt Lake's 4–2 loss to the Kansas City Wizards (now Sporting Kansas City). [1] On August 22, 2007, Jaime Moreno took the record from Kreis with his 109th goal, a penalty in a 3–1 win over his former team the New York Red Bulls. [2] Moreno retired in 2010 with 133 goals and held the record until August 27, 2011, when Jeff Cunningham scored his final MLS goal for Columbus Crew SC in their 6–2 defeat at Seattle Sounders FC. [3] On May 25, 2014, Landon Donovan broke the record with his 135th goal in a 4–1 Los Angeles Galaxy win over the Philadelphia Union; [4] he retired in 2016 with 145 goals. The record was subsequently broken on May 18, 2019, as Chris Wondolowski scored his 146th goal in a 4–1 win for the San Jose Earthquakes over the Chicago Fire. [5]
Of the thirteen players, eight are Americans and one, Dwayne De Rosario, is Canadian. The highest-scoring foreigner is Kei Kamara of Sierra Leone, with 146 goals. Jaime Moreno of Bolivia and Bradley Wright-Phillips of England are the highest scoring players from South America and Europe respectively.

Landon Timothy Donovan is a U.S. former professional soccer player who is the interim head coach of San Diego Wave FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). Widely regarded as one of the greatest U.S. players of all time, Donovan holds the world record for the man with the most international assists (58), and is tied with Clint Dempsey for the most international goals scored by a male U.S. player (57).
The Landon Donovan MVP Award is an annual award for Major League Soccer players. It is voted on by media, MLS players, and club management and is given to the player deemed the most valuable player in the league each season.
Jason Clarence Kreis is an American soccer coach and former player who is the director of operations and special projects for Major League Soccer side Real Salt Lake and the former head coach of the United States under-23 team. From 2021 to 2023, he also served as an assistant coach for MLS club Inter Miami. He coached Orlando City SC in Major League Soccer and was previously an assistant coach under Jürgen Klinsmann for the United States men's national soccer team. Prior to that he was the head coach of New York City FC and Real Salt Lake.
Jaime Moreno Morales is a Bolivian former professional footballer now serving as Youth Academy Technical Training Coach for D.C. United in Major League Soccer, and as the head coach of D.C. United's U-23 side.
Ante Razov is an American soccer coach and former player who is an assistant coach for Los Angeles FC. A prolific forward, Razov is one of the leading goal scorers in the history of Major League Soccer (MLS) and the all-time leading goal scorer for two current or former MLS clubs: the Chicago Fire with 76 goals and Chivas USA with 30 goals. In April 2007, Razov became the third player in MLS history to score 100 goals. Razov also played for the United States men's national soccer team.
Christopher Elliott Wondolowski is an American former professional soccer player who played as a forward. He was MLS's top scorer in the 2010 and 2012 seasons, also being named the 2012 Most Valuable Player, and was one of the top strikers during his time playing in Major League Soccer. With 171 goals in Major League Soccer, he is the highest scorer in the competition's history, as well as the only player in league history to score 150 or more regular-season goals.

The California Clásico is the name given to the football rivalry between the LA Galaxy and the San Jose Earthquakes. This Major League Soccer rivalry reached its zenith from 2001 to 2005, during which time the Earthquakes and the Galaxy combined to win four MLS Cup titles. The term "Clasico" is commonly used to refer to other rivalries in Spanish-speaking countries, most prominently, the Spanish Clásico between Barcelona and Real Madrid, or the Argentine Superclásico between Boca Juniors and River Plate.

MLS Cup 2011, the 16th edition of Major League Soccer's championship match, was played between the Houston Dynamo and the Los Angeles Galaxy to decide the champion of the 2011 season. The soccer match was played at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California on November 20, 2011. Los Angeles won their third championship, defeating Houston 1–0 off a 72nd-minute goal from Galaxy captain Landon Donovan. David Beckham and Robbie Keane assisted the game's lone goal. With the win, the Galaxy became the first team since the Columbus Crew in 2008 to win both the Supporters' Shield and MLS Cup in the same year.
