Martian Successor Nadesico is a science-fiction/comedy anime series that focuses on the exploits of a space battleship's inept crew in the 2196, in particular Akito Tenkawa, one of the ship's mecha pilots who actually wants to be a cook and who constantly finds himself the center of the affections of the female members of the crew.
It was created by Kia Asamiya, directed by Tatsuo Satō and produced by Production I.G subsidiary XEBEC. The series was first broadcast on TV Tokyo between October 1, 1996 and March 24, 1997, lasting 26 episodes. Afterwards, it spawned a series of computer games; a manga adaptation; a spin-off OVA called Gekiganger III ; and a film sequel entitled Martian Successor Nadesico: The Motion Picture – Prince of Darkness . [1] Six DVDs of the series, followed by a complete boxset, were released by ADV Films.
The opening theme tune to Martian Successor Nadesico, "You Get to Burning" was sung Yumi Matsuzawa, with the closing theme, "Watashi Rashiku [Being Myself]" sung by Houko Kuwashima.

Michitaka Kikuchi, best known by the pen name Kia Asamiya, is a Japanese manga artist whose work spans multiple genres and appeals to diverse audiences.
Martian Successor Nadesico, sometimes referred to as simply Nadesico, is a Japanese anime television series produced by TV Tokyo, Yomiko Advertising and Xebec and directed by Tatsuo Satō, with manga artist Kia Asamiya providing original character designs, Keiji Gotoh serving as chief animation director, Mika Akitaka being the main mechanical designer and Takayuki Hattori composing the music. A manga adaptation by Asamiya was published by Kadokawa Shoten from 1996 to 1999. The manga, licensed in North America by CPM Manga, has many significant changes from the anime.
Gekiganger III is an anime series within the anime series Martian Successor Nadesico that plays a critical part in the plot thereof. Gekiganger III was designed to mimic 1970s Super Robots, especially Getter Robo. Initially, only Gai Daigoji and Akito Tenkawa are depicted as enjoying the series. Later in the series, Hikaru Amano becomes the other resident anime fanatic, and towards the end of the series everyone on the ship learns to love the series.

Getter Robo is a Japanese mecha media franchise created by Ken Ishikawa and Go Nagai. An anime television series produced by Toei Animation was broadcast on Fuji TV from April 4, 1974, to May 8, 1975, with a total of 51 episodes. Martian Successor Nadesico: The Motion Picture – Prince of Darkness, also known as Prince of Darkness Nadesico or Nadesico the Movie: Prince of Darkness, is a 1998 anime film written and directed by Tatsuo Satō, and it is a sequel to the series Martian Successor Nadesico. The story is a direct sequel to Nadesico: The Blank of Three Years, a video game for the Sega Saturn that takes place immediately after the TV series ends, and before the movie begins. The movie won the prestigious Seiun Award for Best Dramatic Presentation, Prince of Darkness also win Anime Grand Prix from Animage magazine for Best Title, Best Female character, and Best Song, and It was a nominated for the Animation Kobe for Theatrical Film Award but lost to Pokémon: The First Movie. Originally licensed by ADV Films, the movie, along with the TV Series have been re-licensed to Nozomi Entertainment.

It was launched on 31 July 2005, replacing Locomotion, which was acquired by Sony on 18 January of the same year. Animax was divided into four feeds: three in Spanish and one in Portuguese (Brazil).
Takayuki Hattori is a Japanese film, television, video game and non-soundtrack music composer, arranger and conductor. He is the son of the composer Katsuhisa Hattori and grandson of composer Ryoichi Hattori. He has won three Japan Academy Prize awards in the category Outstanding Achievement in Music and was the music director of the Japan Pavilion at the Expo 2010. In recent years, Hattori has worked with popular supergroup JAM Project, serving as orchestral arranger and conductor on two of their albums, Victoria Cross and THUMB RISE AGAIN, as well as in their live concerts promoting said albums.
