Current commentators

NOTE: These are all of NBC's 2023 commentator lineups. NBC has yet to announce their 2024 commentator lineups. Dale Earnhardt Jr., whose contract with NBC expired after the 2023 season, will reportedly be leaving NBC for Amazon and TNT's new NASCAR coverage in the next TV contract that starts in 2025. [1]

NASCAR Cup Series

NBC's 2023 lineup of broadcasters for the Cup Series is as follows:

Booth announcers

Notes:

  • Since Earnhardt Jr. joined NBC as an additional color commentator in 2018, the booth announcers have commentated each race in two booths (any combination of 2 and 2) instead of all 4 of them together in 1 booth. The two booths are next to each other at the track in the grandstands. In 2021 and 2022, Allen and Letarte were together in 1 booth with Burton and Earnhardt Jr. in another booth.

Pit reporters

  • Dave Burns (all races except Pocono, Michigan and Watkins Glen)
  • Kim Coon (all races except Richmond and Daytona)
  • Parker Kligerman (Chicago, Pocono, Michigan, Daytona, Kansas and other races TBA) [3] [4]
  • Marty Snider (all races except Kansas)
  • Dillon Welch (Richmond, Watkins Glen, Bristol and other races TBA)

Note: NBC usually has 3 or 4 pit reporters per Cup race and 2 or 3 per Xfinity race. All 5 of them take turns, and the pit reporters that aren't on the broadcast are usually pit reporting for an IndyCar race for NBC or IMSA race if there is one on the same day and/or weekend. Coon and Welch also split time between NBC and Motor Racing Network.

Specialty reporter

Pre and post-race show

Note: There was no studio for the race at Richmond. [6]

  • Marty Snider (host for all races except Kansas)
  • Steve Letarte (host at Kansas, rotating analyst at Talladega)
  • Brad Daugherty (rotating analyst at Chicago, Atlanta, Michigan, Watkins Glen, Daytona, Kansas, Texas, Talladega and other races TBA)
  • Dale Jarrett (rotating analyst at Nashville, Chicago, New Hampshire, Michigan, Indy Road Course, Daytona, Darlington, Bristol, Talladega, Charlotte Roval and other races TBA)

NBC's 2023 lineup of broadcasters for the Xfinity Series is as follows:

  • Rick Allen (play-by-play for all races except Road America)
  • Dave Burns (play-by-play at Road America)
  • Steve Letarte (color commentator for all races except Road America and Michigan)
  • Jeff Burton (color commentator for all races except Pocono)
  • Dale Earnhardt Jr. (color commentator for all races except New Hampshire, Road America, Bristol and Homestead-Miami)
  • Dale Jarrett (color commentator at Road America and Michigan)
  • Mike Bagley (commentator for the Chicago Street Course and Watkins Glen radio-style broadcast) [2]

  • Marty Snider (all races except Road America and Kansas)
  • Kevin Lee (Road America)
  • Matt Yocum (Road America)
  • Dillon Welch (Watkins Glen, Bristol and select Races TBA)
  • Nate Ryan (Daytona)

Note: Yocum was previously a permanent pit reporter for NBC from 2001 to 2006 and Lee also pit reported standalone Xfinity Series races for NBC in 2018 and 2019.

Specialty reporter

All 4 of them take turns, and the pit reporters that aren't on the broadcast are usually pit reporting for an IndyCar race for NBC or IMSA race if there is one on the same day and/or weekend. Coon and Welch also split time between NBC and Motor Racing Network.
  • Burns has also been a substitute play-by-play for standalone Xfinity Series races each year since 2015, but was not needed in that role in 2021 since there were no standalone races during NBC's part of the Xfinity Series schedule. The same goes for Leigh Diffey, who was not needed to commentate any NASCAR races in 2020, 2021 and 2022. In 2022, Burns was the play-by-play for the race at Darlington instead of Allen who took that race off.
