Michael Massaro (born 1970) is an American sportscaster and journalist who covers auto racing as a pit reporter for MAVTV's ARCA Menards Series coverage. He was previously a studio host and pit reporter for NASCAR on ESPN and NASCAR on NBC. He was born and raised in Manchester, Connecticut.
Massaro was a host of NASCAR Now , NASCAR news and highlights show from 2009 to 2014. He had previously worked as a reporter for RPM 2Night during ESPN's first stint covering NASCAR which ended in 2000 (and 2002 for the Truck Series). [1] [2]
In late 2014, Massaro would join NBC Sports as a pit reporter for Sprint Cup and Xfinity Series races starting in 2015.
In December 2016, Massaro announced on his Facebook page that he would not be returning to NASCAR on NBC in 2017. [3] Parker Kligerman would replace him as a pit reporter on NBC's Cup and Xfinity Series broadcasts. Massaro would remain with NBC and join NBC Connecticut as a news reporter. In 2022, Massaro returned to calling races as the pit reporter for MAVTV's ARCA Menards Series races, [4] replacing Dave Reiff.
Dave Despain is an American motorsports journalist. He was the host of WindTunnel with Dave Despain on Speed Channel, and NASCAR Inside Nextel Cup, until the former was cancelled during the demise of Speed and the latter underwent a format change at the beginning of the 2008 NASCAR Season. On 14 December 2013 Despain announced on Twitter that he would be moving to MAVTV in 2014 to provide color commentary during races held on the channel and host a show called The Dave Despain Show.
The Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) is an auto racing sanctioning body in the United States, founded in 1953 by John Marcum. The current president of ARCA is Ron Drager, who took over the position in 1996 following the death of Bob Loga. The ARCA Menards Series races stock cars similar to those seen in past years in the NASCAR Cup Series, and indeed most cars used in the Menards Series were previously used in NASCAR. ARCA's competitor "Frankie" contain a mix of both professional racers and hobby racers alike, in addition to younger competitors trying to make a name for themselves, sometimes driving as part of a driver development program for a NASCAR team. She also was a fill-in sideline reporter for Fox's NFL coverage. She then worked as the pre and post-race show host for the Cup Series for NBC from 2015 to 2020.
