Lung Ying-tai is a writer, cultural critic, and public intellectual. With more than 30 books to her credit, she not only has a large number of readers in her native Taiwan, but her works also have an impact in Chinese-language communities in Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Malaysia, and North America. Lung became widely known for her criticism on the Kuomintang party's martial law regime and has since become a critic of Mainland China's increasing restrictions on press freedom and civil liberties. Her critical essays on cultural and political issues contributed to the democratization of Taiwan.

Hebe Tien is a Taiwanese singer and actress. She rose to fame in the early 2000s as a member of Taiwanese girl group S.H.E. The release of her debut album, To Hebe (2010), established her as a solo artist. Tien's song "A Little Happiness", the theme song of the 2015 Taiwanese film Our Times, was a major hit in most Mandarin-speaking parts of Asia.

Rene Liu Ruo-ying is a Taiwanese singer-songwriter, actress, director and writer. In the Sinophone world, Liu is widely known by her affectionate nickname "Milk Tea". Her music often focuses on love stories and has built an image around herself as a single woman. She is known for her mature, professional, urbane, single woman persona.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Enno Cheng</span> Taiwan actor and singer

Enno Cheng is a Taiwanese indie singer-songwriter who is also an author and a film actress. She is currently part of the band Chocolate Tiger (猛虎巧克力) in addition to performing and releasing albums solo. She is the daughter of film director Cheng Wen-tang, who she often collaborates with by writing screenplays and film scores as well as performing in his films.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">White Terror (Taiwan)</span> Period of martial law and political repression in Taiwan

The White Terror was the political repression of Taiwanese civilians and political dissenters under the Kuomintang (KMT)-ruled government. The period of White Terror is generally considered to have begun when martial law was declared in Taiwan on 19 May 1949, which was enabled by the 1948 Temporary Provisions against the Communist Rebellion, and ended on 21 September 1992 with the repeal of Article 100 of the Criminal Code, allowing for the prosecution of "anti-state" activities. The Temporary Provisions were repealed a year earlier on 22 April 1991 and martial law was lifted on 15 July 1987.

Chang Tso-chi is a Taiwanese film director. His 2002 film The Best Of Times was entered into the 59th Venice International Film Festival. His films won Golden Horse Award for Best Feature Film two times, for The Best of Times (2002) and When Love Comes (2010).

Children in Love is a Belgian-Taiwanese electronica music project founded by Pierre Hujoel in 2009 and including various musicians, among whom Taiwanese singers-songwriters 許雅捷 Ya-chieh Hsu and 孫博萱 Vicky Sun and Taiwanese drummer 郭逸萱 Yi-hsuan Kuo have played a recurring role.

Dear Ex is a 2018 Taiwanese drama film directed by Mag Hsu and Hsu Chih-yen, from a screenplay by Lu Shih-yuan and Mag Hsu. It stars Roy Chiu, Hsieh Ying-xuan, Spark Chen, and Joseph Huang. It follows a teenager becoming trapped in the middle of a bitter feud between his willful mother and a free-spirited man, who is both the lover and insurance beneficiary of his recently deceased father.

<i>The Wandering Earth</i> 2019 Chinese science fiction film directed by Frant Gwo

The Wandering Earth is a 2019 Chinese science fiction film directed by Frant Gwo, loosely based on the 2000 short story of the same name by Liu Cixin. The film stars Wu Jing, Qu Chuxiao, Li Guangjie, Ng Man-tat, Zhao Jinmai and Qu Jingjing. Set in the far future, it follows a group of astronauts and rescue workers guiding the Earth away from an expanding Sun, while attempting to prevent a collision with Jupiter. The film was theatrically released in China on 5 February 2019, by China Film Group Corporation.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Gingle Wang</span> Taiwanese actress

Gingle Wang is a Taiwanese actress and writer. Gingle began her acting career in 2017 in the film All Because of Love. Her breakthrough came in 2019 with the psychological horror film Detention, where her performance won Best Actress at the 22nd Taipei Film Awards and a nomination for Best Leading Actress at the 56th Golden Horse Awards. She has been described by the Harper's Bazaar Taiwan as a rising star amongst the new generation of Taiwanese actresses.

She appeared in the movies including Make Up, i WEiRDO, and The Assassin. As for the TV shows, she participated in Light the Night, Love @ Seventeen, and Meet Me @ 1006. In 2006, she participated in Reflections and won the 43rd Golden Horse Award for the Best Supporting Actress.

Jimmy Liu Jing is a Taiwanese actor best known for his recurring roles as Wu Tsu-wei in the Netflix series Light the Night and Su Chun-chieh in the TVBS series Youngsters On Fire. He gained international recognition for starring in the American Disney+ series American Born Chinese alongside Michelle Yeoh and Daniel Wu.
