Kubilay Türkyilmaz is a Swiss former professional footballer who played as a forward. He ended his international career as the all-time joint leading goal scorer for the Switzerland national team, with 34 goals in 64 appearances between 1988 and 2001, equalling the goals scored by Max Abegglen. Their record was bettered by Alexander Frei in 2008.
Nuri Şahin is a Turkish-German football manager and former professional player who played as a midfielder. He is currently the head coach of Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund.
Gökhan Inler is a former Swiss professional footballer who played as a central midfielder. He is currently in charge as a technical director of Italian football club Udinese.
Dilaver Satılmış is a former football player. Born in Switzerland, he represented Turkey at under-21 international level.

Turks in Switzerland, also referred to as Swiss Turks and Turkish Swiss people, are Swiss residents of Turkish origin. The majority of Swiss Turks descend from the Republic of Turkey; however there has also been Turkish migration waves from other post-Ottoman countries including ethnic Turkish communities which have come to Switzerland from the Balkans, the island of Cyprus, and more recently Iraq and Syria.
The 1914 Burdur earthquake occurred at 00:07 local time on 4 October. It was estimated to be 7.0 on the surface wave magnitude scale with a maximum intensity of IX (Violent) on the Mercalli intensity scale. It was centered near Lake Burdur in southwestern Anatolia and the mainshock and subsequent fire destroyed more than 17,000 homes, and caused 2,344 casualties.

Nilüfer - Grup Nazar was a Turkish band that entered the Eurovision Song Contest 1978. The band included Olcayto Ahmet Tuğsuz who went on to compose Turkey's Eurovision entries in 1982 and 1987 and San Marino's entries in 2016 and 2019. Their song "Sevince", written by Dağhan Baydur and Hulki Aktunç came a clear first at the Turkish TV contest, finished at 18th of 20 with only 2 points. The B-side was "Darling", also written by Baydur. Dağhan Baydur would later (1999) produce the Turkish-language Beatles cover album Beatles Alaturca with Fuat Güner of MFÖ and Erdal Kızılçay.
SoloTürk or Solo Türk, often stylized as SOLOTÜRK, is a single-aircraft aerobatic demonstration team of the Turkish Air Force. Plans for the team began in November 2009 and the pilot training process was finalized in August 2010 with three pilots initially. The first demonstration flight was performed within the military in September 2010, and the team made its first public appearance 15 April 2011. Since then, SoloTürk has participated in several national and international airshows, with most maneuvers in demonstration flights being special to the team.
