Morningside Avenue is a suburban arterial road in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is entirely within Scarborough, running north by north-west from the Scarborough Bluffs overlooking Lake Ontario to the eastern terminus of McNicoll Avenue near the Rouge River valley. A short extension from Steeles Avenue to Passmore Avenue has been completed but the connection to the southern section to McNicoll Avenue is still not completed.

Sir Wilfrid Laurier Collegiate Institute, initially known as Guildwood Secondary School is a high school in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located in the Guildwood neighbourhood in the southern part of the former suburb of Scarborough. It is named in honour of Sir Wilfrid Laurier, the seventh Prime Minister of Canada. The school was established by the Scarborough Board of Education, and is now part of the Toronto District School Board. The motto of the school Hoc Tempus est Tibi which translates into English as "This Time is for You".

Margarett R. Best is a former Canadian politician. She was a Liberal member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario (MPP) from 2007 to 2013 and represented the riding of Scarborough—Guildwood. She was a cabinet minister in the government of Dalton McGuinty.

Ben Peterson is a Canadian social entrepreneur and venture capitalist. In 2002 he co-founded Journalists for Human Rights (JHR), a leading Canadian non-governmental organization (NGO), where he served as Executive Director until November 2011. He now holds the position of Chair Emeritus at the charity. In January 2012, he co-founded Newsana, an online news community. He served as Newsana's CEO until September 2015, when the business was sold to a Toronto-based creative agency. As of 2016, he was Senior Partner at AHL Venture Partners, an impact-focused venture capital firm in Africa.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Mitzie Hunter</span> Canadian politician (born 1971)

Mitzie Jacquelin Hunter is a Canadian politician who represented Scarborough—Guildwood as a member of provincial parliament in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 2013 to 2023. A member of the Ontario Liberal Party, Hunter was a provincial cabinet minister from 2014 to 2018 and was the deputy leader of the party from 2022 to 2023. She resigned from the Ontario legislature on May 10, 2023, in order to be a candidate for mayor of Toronto in the 2023 by-election, in which she placed sixth with 2.9% of the vote. She is currently President and CEO of the Canadian Women's Foundation.

Neethan Shanmugarajah (Neethan Shan) (Tamil: நீதன் சண்முகராஜா, romanized: Nītaṉ Caṇmukarājā; born December 24, 1978), is a Canadian politician who represented Ward 42 Scarborough—Rouge River on Toronto City Council from February 2017 to November 2018. Shan was the first Tamil Canadian to sit on Toronto's City Council. Shan is currently the Vice-Chair of the Toronto District School Board (TDSB). Shan was elected to the TDSB in 2016 and again in 2022. Shan has sought public office 13 times since 2003; 8 of which were municipally and provincially, 5. He won 4 times: YRDSB Trustee in 2006, TDSB Trustee in 2016, Toronto City Councillor in 2017 and TDSB Trustee in 2022.

Mary Ng is a Canadian politician serving as Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development since 2018. A member of the Liberal Party of Canada, she has been the member of Parliament (MP) for the riding of Markham—Thornhill since a by-election on April 3, 2017.

Stop the New Sex-Ed Agenda is a minor social conservative provincial political party in Ontario, Canada. It was founded by Queenie Yu, who also served as its original leader. It is a single issue party with a platform based on being in opposition to the updated sexual education curriculum for Ontario public schools implemented in 2015. Yu has stated on multiple occasions that the goal of the party is not to win seats but rather to encourage others to oppose the curriculum.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Vijay Thanigasalam</span> Canadian politician (born 1989)

Vijay Thanigasalam is a Canadian politician who has been the Ontario associate minister of housing since 2024 and the member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) for Scarborough—Rouge Park since 2018, representing the Ontario Progressive Conservative (PC) Party. He was previously the Ontario associate minister of transportation. Thanigasalam is the first Tamil-Canadian to sit in the provincial cabinet in Ontario.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Ward 20 Scarborough Southwest</span>

Ward 20 Scarborough Southwest is a municipal ward in the Scarborough section of Toronto, Ontario, Canada represented by Parthi Kandavel who won the by-election on November 30, 2023. The seat was temporarily vacant between July 26, 2023 and November 30, 2023 following the resignation of Gary Crawford to run in the 2023 Scarborough—Guildwood provincial by-election. It covers the area of the City of Toronto bounded by Eglinton Avenue East to the north, Lake Ontario to the south, Victoria Park Avenue to the west, and Markham Road to the east. It contains the neighbourhoods of Birch Cliff, Birch Cliff Heights, Clairlea, Cliffcrest, Cliffside, Fallingbrook, Hunt Club, Oakridge, Scarborough Junction, and the western half of Scarborough Village.
