The Veronicas are an Australian pop music duo. [1] Formed in Brisbane in 2005, the group consists of twin sisters Jessica and Lisa Origliasso. [2] [3] The Veronicas have released three studio albums, The Secret Life Of... (2005), Hook Me Up (2007) and The Veronicas (2014). [4]
The Veronicas have won and been nominated for numerous music awards. They include two ARIA Music Award, two Channel V Oz Artist of the Year awards and three MTV Australia Awards. [5] [6] [7] [8] In 2008 The Veronicas received an ARIA No.1 Award for their single, "Hook Me Up", reaching number-one on the Australian Singles Chart in 2007. The APRA Awards were established by the Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA) in 1982 to honour the achievements of songwriters and music composers, and to recognise their songwriting skills, sales and airplay performance, by its members annually. The Veronicas have been nominated twice: once in 2009 for Most Played Australian Work for their single "Untouched", which was written by Jessica, Lisa Origliasso and Tobias Gad; in 2015 "You Ruin Me" (co-written by the duo along with Anthony Egizii and David Musumeci) was nominated for Song of the Year.

The ARIA No.1 Chart awards were established in 2002, by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA), to recognise Australian artists who achieved a number-one single, album or music DVD on the Australian music charts. [15] The Veronicas have won two ARIA No.1 Awards: one in 2008 for their single "Hook Me Up", which peaked at number-one on the Australian Singles Chart on 18 November 2007; [16] and in 2014 for "You Ruin Me" which debuted atop the chart on 5 October 2014. The John Butler Trio were an Australian roots-rock band led by guitarist and vocalist John Butler, an APRA and ARIA-award-winning musician. They formed in Fremantle in 1998 with Jason McGann on drums, Gavin Shoesmith on bass and John Butler on vocals. By 2009, the trio consisted of Butler with Byron Luiters on bass and Nicky Bomba on drums and percussion, the latter being replaced by Grant Gerathy in 2013. "You Ruin Me" is a song by Australian pop duo The Veronicas from their self-titled third studio album. Produced by DNA, the recording is the lead single from the album and their first musical release since "Lolita" in 2012. The track, which was released on 19 September 2014, was co-written by Anthony Egizii and David Musumeci along with The Veronicas' twins Lisa Origliasso and Jessica Origliasso. It became the duo's second number-one single in their native Australia, topping the ARIA Singles Chart for three weeks, and it reached the top 20 in New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
