It has 19,500 employees. It is operated by PT Freeport Indonesia (PT-FI), which used to be 90.64% owned by Freeport-McMoRan (FCX), including 9.36% owned through its wholly owned subsidiary, PT Indocopper Investama. Since 2018 in negotiation on extending the permit of the mining operation the government of Indonesia managed to own 51.23% of PT Freeport Indonesia through Indonesia Asahan Aluminium and PT Indonesia Papua Metal & Mineral, a company co-owned with the Papua Province's government, while FCX only owned 48.76.

Through a Mexican subsidiary company, they also own the Cerro San Pedro gold-silver mine in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, which ceased operation in 2017. The company primarily produced copper, gold, and molybdenum. Over its history, the Company evolved from being a major primary molybdenum producer to becoming a copper and gold mining company with the construction and development of the Mount Milligan mine and concentrator in British Columbia, Canada. Mount Milligan was Thompson Creek Metals principal operation and the company owned 100% of this property. The company also owned 100% of its Thompson Creek Mine in Idaho. Thompson Creek Metals owned 75% joint venture interest in two other properties, including its Endako Mine in British Columbia, and its Langeloth Metallurgical Facility (roaster) in Pennsylvania. Thompson Creek Metals had additional development projects, including the Berg property in British Columbia.

Mount Polley mine Gold and copper mine in British Columbia, Canada

The Mount Polley mine is a Canadian gold and copper mine located in British Columbia near the towns of Williams Lake, and Likely. It consists of two open-pit sites with an underground mining component and is owned and operated by the Mount Polley Mining Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Imperial Metals Corporation. In 2013, the mine produced an output of 38,501,165 pounds (17,463,835 kg) of copper, 45,823 ounces of gold, and 123,999 of silver. The mill commenced operations in 1997 and was closed and placed on care and maintenance in 2019. The company owns 20,113 hectares (201.13 km2) of property near Quesnel Lake and Polley Lake where it has mining leases and operations on 2,007 hectares (20.07 km2) and mineral claims on 18,106 hectares (181.06 km2). Mineral concentrate is delivered by truck to the Port of Vancouver.

Imperial Metals Corporation, known as IMI Imperial Metals Inc. until 2002, is a Canadian metals and mining company. Engaging in the acquisition, exploration, development, mining, and production of base and precious metals in North America, the majority of its holdings and operations are in British Columbia.

The New Afton mine is a Canadian gold and copper mine located 17 kilometres (11 mi) west of the city of Kamloops in British Columbia. The mine is underground and is owned and operated by New Gold Inc. In 2019, the mine produced an output of 79,000,000 pounds (36,000,000 kg) of copper, and 69,000 ounces of gold. The Afton Group covers 61 claims on 12,450 hectares (124.5 km2) of property.

The Coleman Mine is an underground nickel and copper mine operated by Vale 45 kilometres (28 mi) northwest of Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. It is the flagship mine of Vale's Sudbury operation. The mine recently implemented the use of electric haul vehicles and installed an underground 4G LTE network.

The Gibraltar Mine is a Canadian copper mine operated by Taseko Mines near McLeese Lake in British Columbia, Canada. It is the second largest open-pit mine in Canada and the fourth largest in North America.
