Eros International is an Indian entertainment company, established by Arjan Lulla in 1977, that distributes and produces motion pictures. [1] It is headquartered in Mumbai. Being one of leading film production and distribution companies in India, it co-produces or acquires Indian language films and distributes them internationally by its parent Eros International plc.
Eros International focuses on international markets and has aggregated rights to over 3,000 films in its library, including recent and classic titles that span different genres, budgets and languages. Eros' portfolio of films over the last three completed fiscal years comprised 197 films. In fiscal 2016, the company released 63 films in total either in India, overseas or both. These comprised 33 Hindi films, 19 Tamil films and 11 regional-language films. Eros International win over 60 Awards at 2015 Film Awards. For its most popular releases including Bajirao Mastani, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Badlapur and Bela Seshe, Eros International collected 18 awards at the Zee Cine Awards held in Mumbai, India on 21 February 2016. The highest-grossing movie of Eros International is Bajrangi Bhaijaan, released on 17 July 2015, it grossed 970.05 Crore worldwide. [3] The film also grossed ₹179 crore (US$21 million) overseas for a worldwide gross of ₹603 crore (US$72 million) in 31 days. [4] Bajrangi Bhaijaan became the quickest film to collect ₹100 crore (US$12 million) [5] and ₹200 crore (US$24 million) net. The distributor share of the film had crossed ₹150 crore (US$18 million) crore which is a record in India being the second film to do so after PK. In August 2015, Eros International said in a statement to the Bombay Stock Exchange that Bajrangi Bhaijaan has become fastest Bollywood film to gross ₹500 crore (US$60 million) worldwide, while it crossed ₹300 crore (US$36 million) nett at the domestic box office. Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan is an Indian actor, film producer, and television personality who predominantly works in Hindi films. In a career spanning over three decades, Khan has received numerous awards, including two National Film Awards as a film producer, and two Filmfare Awards as an actor. Sajid Nadiadwala is an Indian film producer, film director and screenwriter who works in Hindi cinema. He is the owner of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. Grandson of filmmaker A.K. Nadiadwala, Sajid has written and produced films including Housefull (2010), Baaghi (2016) to directing Kick (2014) that brought him various debutant director awards, and wrote the Marathi film Lai Bhaari that was produced by Riteish Deshmukh.
Kabir Khan is an Indian film director, screenwriter and cinematographer who works in Hindi cinema. He started his career working in documentary films, and then made his feature film directorial debut in 2006 with the adventure thriller Kabul Express (2006). He is best known for directing New York (2009), Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015), and 83 (2021). His latest film Chandu Champion (2024) was released on 14 June 2024 opening to positive reviews. This was his second sports biopic after 83 and after The Diplomat (2025).
Housefull is a 2010 Indian Hindi language comedy drama film directed by Sajid Khan and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, The dialogues were written by Anvita Dutt while Nadiadwala wrote the storyline and Rameshwar S. Bhagat served as the editor. It became the first installment of the Housefull franchise. It was loosely remade from the 1998 Tamil film Kaathala Kaathala.
Indian actress Deepika Padukone primarily appears in Hindi films. Her first screen appearance was in Himesh Reshammiya's music video "Naam Hai Tera" in 2005. Padukone made her film debut by playing the title role in the Kannada-language film Aishwarya (2006). Bajirao Mastani is a 2015 Indian Hindi-language epic historical tragedy film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who co-produced it with Eros International and composed its soundtrack. The film stars Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra with Tanvi Azmi, Vaibhav Tatwawaadi, Milind Soman, Mahesh Manjrekar and Aditya Pancholi in supporting roles. Based on Nagnath S. Inamdar's Marathi novel Rau, Bajirao Mastani narrates the story of the Maratha Peshwa Bajirao I (1700–1740) and his second wife, Mastani.
Bajrangi Bhaijaan is a 2015 Indian Hindi-language comedy-drama film co-written and directed by Kabir Khan, based on an original story by screenwriter V. Vijayendra Prasad, and produced by Salman Khan, Rockline Venkatesh and Kabir Khan. The film stars Salman with debutante Harshaali Malhotra, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and tells the story of Pawan Kumar Chaturvedi, a devotee of the Hindu deity Hanuman, who embarks on a journey to take a mute six-year-old Pakistani Muslim girl Shahida, separated in India from her mother, back to her hometown.
