Jorge Alberto "Georgino" Orellana was a Honduran journalist, television producer and presenter for Televisión de Honduras, a private television station. Orellana was shot and killed on April 20, 2010, becoming the sixth Honduran journalist to be killed in the country since March 1, 2010.

Luis Ernesto Mendoza Cerrato was the owner of the Channel 24 broadcast facilities in Danli, Honduras. Mendoza was murdered outside the TV station and became one of 13 Honduran media workers and journalists to be murdered in a years time, only two of which were resolved. He was considered a prominent business person in Danli.

Nery Geremias Orellana was a Honduran station manager for Radio Joconguera in Candelaria, Lempira, Honduras, a reporter for Radio Progreso and a member of the Community Radio Network. He was murdered July 14, 2011, in San Lorenzo after confirming his attendance at a regional meeting of community radio stations.

The 2012–13 football season was the 47th Honduran Liga Nacional edition, since its establishment in 1965. The season was divided into two tournaments and determined the 61st and 62nd national champions. The campaign began on 28 July 2012, and ended in May 2013. Club Deportivo Olimpia was the reigning champions after winning in 2011–12.

Alexander Erick Martínez Ávila, also known as Erick Martínez, was a Honduran advocate and spokesperson for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) minority rights in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. A former journalist, he went into public relations for Asociación Kukulcán. He was also known to be a "Zelayista" activist. Days after his announcement to run as a Resistencia Party congressional candidate in the November elections, Martínez went missing and was found strangled to death about 3 kilometers from the capital.

Ángel Alfredo Villatoro Rivera was a Honduran journalist and radio personality, who was kidnapped and killed in 2012 and is regarded as a "journalist martyr". He was one of the seven journalists killed in Honduras in 2012.

The 2014–15 Honduran Liga Nacional season was the 49th Honduran Liga Nacional edition, since its establishment in 1965. For this season, the system format remained the same as the previous season. The tournament began on 1 August 2014 and has ended in May 2015. On 20 December 2014, C.D. Motagua obtained its 13th national title after defeating C.D. Real Sociedad 2–1 on aggregate in the Apertura finals.

The 2015–16 Honduran Liga Nacional season was the 50th Honduran Liga Nacional edition, since its establishment in 1965. For this season, the system format remained the same as the previous season. The tournament began on 31 July 2015 and ended on 22 May 2016.

Moisés Canelo, is the pseudonym of Moisés Canelas Withol, a Honduran singer and songwriter of international recognition.
