Albert Gallatin American politician, diplomat, and scholar

Abraham Alfonse Albert Gallatin was a Genevan-American politician, diplomat, ethnologist and linguist. Biographer Nicholas Dungan states that Gallatin was "America's Swiss Founding Father." He is known for being the founder of New York University and for serving in the Democratic-Republican Party at various federal elective and appointed positions across four decades. He represented Pennsylvania in the Senate and the House of Representatives before becoming the longest-tenured United States Secretary of the Treasury and serving as a high-ranking diplomat.

Friendship Hill National Historic Site of the United States

Friendship Hill was the home of early American politician and statesman Albert Gallatin (1761–1849). Gallatin was a U.S. Congressman, the longest-serving Secretary of the Treasury under two presidents, and ambassador to France and Great Britain. The house overlooks the Monongahela River near Point Marion, Pennsylvania, about 50 miles (80 km) south of Pittsburgh.

It runs for 89 miles (143 km) from Uniontown to the Ohio state line near Darlington, where it connects with Ohio State Route 14. PA 51 is the termination point for Pennsylvania Route 43, Pennsylvania Route 48 and Pennsylvania Route 88. The route is a major connection from Uniontown and the rest of Fayette County to Pittsburgh.

PA 88 runs parallel to the Monongahela River for almost its entire length.

The Albert Gallatin Area School District is a large, rural, public school district located in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. It is named after Albert Gallatin former U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, planner of the Lewis and Clark expedition, engineer of the financial details of the Louisiana Purchase, and founder of New York University. It serves the Boroughs of Masontown, Fairchance, Point Marion, and Smithfield. It also serves German, Springhill, Georges, and Nicholson Townships. It encompasses approximately 142 square miles (370 km2). According to 2000 US federal census data, Albert Gallatin Area School District serves a resident population of 25,282. By 2010, the District's population declined to 23,852 people. The educational attainment levels for the Albert Gallatin Area School District population were 82.4% high school graduates and 11.9% college graduates. The District is one of the 500 public school districts of Pennsylvania.

U.S. Route 119 in Pennsylvania

U.S. Route 119 (US 119) travels through Connellsville, Greensburg, and Punxsutawney, and bypasses Uniontown and Indiana. There are numerous other boroughs and villages along its 133-mile (214 km) route in the Keystone State. The southern entrance of US 119 is at the West Virginia state line one-half-mile south of Point Marion. The northern terminus is at US 219 two miles (3 km) south of DuBois, Pennsylvania. US 119 is in the National Highway System from the West Virginia state line to Exit 0 of PA Turnpike 66, and from US 22 to US 219. From US 22 to US 219, the highway carries the name of the Buffalo-Pittsburgh Highway; from US 22 to PA 56, it is also known as the Patrick J. Stapleton Highway; near Uniontown, it bears the name George C. Marshall Parkway.

Albert Gallatin Memorial Bridge Bridge

The Albert Gallatin Memorial Bridge was a cantilever truss bridge that carried vehicular traffic across the Monongahela River in the southwestern part of the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. Built in 1930 to replace a ferry, it connected Point Marion in Fayette County and Dunkard Township in Greene County. It was named in honor of U.S. Senator, and longtime U.S. Treasury Secretary and diplomat Albert Gallatin, whose Friendship Hill homestead is nearby.
