List of murdered musicians

Last updated

Many musicians have been murdered during their active career. Most of the musicians had been shot or stabbed to death. Some of them have received extensive media attention, including the murder of John Lennon in 1980, the killing of Marvin Gaye in 1984, the murder of Selena in 1995, the murder of Tupac Shakur in 1996, the murder of the Notorious B.I.G. in 1997, the murder of XXXTentacion in 2018, and the assassination of Sidhu Moose Wala in 2022. Others have received less media attention, including the murder of Bryan Harvey, who was killed during the 2006 Richmond spree murders.

"Levels" is a song by Indian rapper-singer Sidhu Moose Wala featuring Canadian rapper Sunny Malton. The song was written by him and was released four days before his assassination on 29 May 2022 in a village named Jawarkhe near his village Moosa.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">PnB Rock</span> American rapper (1991–2022)

Rakim Hasheem Allen, known professionally as PnB Rock, was an American rapper, singer, and songwriter. Allen signed with Atlantic Records in 2015 and gained initial recognition for his 2016 single, "Selfish". His first Billboard Hot 100 entry, it received triple platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and served as lead single for his commercial mixtape GTTM: Goin Thru the Motions (2017), which entered the Billboard 200. His debut studio album, Catch These Vibes (2017) peaked at number 17 on the chart, while his second album, TrapStar Turnt PopStar (2019) peaked at number four.

Gustav Elijah Åhr, known professionally as Lil Peep, was an American rapper and singer-songwriter. He was a member of the emo rap collective GothBoiClique. Helping pioneer an emo revival-style of rap and rock music, Lil Peep has been credited as a leading figure of emo rap music and served as an inspiration to outcasts and youth subcultures.

Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy, known professionally as XXXTentacion, was an American rapper and singer-songwriter. Though a controversial figure due to his widely publicized legal troubles, XXXTentacion gained a cult following among his young fan base during his short career with his depression- and alienation-themed music. Critics and fans often credit him for his musical versatility, with his music exploring emo, trap, trap metal, nu metal, indie rock, lo-fi, hip hop, R&B, and punk rock. He was considered to be a leading figure in the establishment of the emo rap and SoundCloud rap genres, which garnered mainstream attention during the mid-to-late 2010s.

"Look at Me!" is the debut commercial single by American rapper XXXTentacion. The song premiered on December 30, 2015, on the SoundCloud account of Rojas, the song's co-producer, before initially being released for digital download as a single on January 29, 2016, becoming a sleeper hit in January 2017, in which the single was later re-released for digital download again with a remastered and clean version of the single on February 20, 2017, by Empire Distribution. The song serves as the lead single from his debut commercial mixtape Revenge. The track was produced by Rojas and Jimmy Duval, and heavily samples the 2007 song "Changes" by British dubstep DJ and record producer Mala.

Mumble rap is a loosely defined microgenre of hip hop music that largely spread via the online audio distribution platform SoundCloud in the 2010s. The term implies mumbling, or unclear vocal delivery, used by artists, and it has been used to describe rappers who do not share the rap genre's traditional emphasis on meaningful lyricism, choosing instead to emphasize other aspects of delivery like melody, mood and tone.

Emo rap is a subgenre of hip hop with influence from emo. Originating from the SoundCloud rap scene in the mid-2010s, the genre fuses characteristics of hip hop music, such as trap-style beats with vocals that are usually sung. The most prominent artists in the genre were Lil Peep, XXXTentacion, and Juice Wrld.

? is the second studio album by American rapper XXXTentacion and his last studio album to be released before his death. It was released through Bad Vibes Forever, Caroline Distribution, and Capitol Music Group on March 16, 2018, and primarily produced by frequent collaborator John Cunningham, it includes a wide range of guest appearances from PnB Rock, Travis Barker of Blink-182, Joey Badass, Matt Ox, Rio Santana, Judah, and Carlos Andrez, and also succeeds the release of his debut studio album 17 (2017) and the extended play A Ghetto Christmas Carol (2017).

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Murder of XXXTentacion</span> 2018 murder in Deerfield Beach, Florida, US

On June 18, 2018, 20-year-old American rapper and singer-songwriter Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy, known professionally as XXXTentacion, was murdered in Deerfield Beach, Florida. Onfroy was fatally shot and killed by 22-year-old Michael Boatwright after being robbed in his car by Boatwright and his accomplices Trayvon Newsome, Dedrick Williams, and Robert Allen outside RIVA Motorsports, an upscale seller of motorcycles and watercraft in Deerfield Beach. Authorities charged the four men with first-degree murder and robbery with a firearm.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Legends (Juice Wrld song)</span> 2018 single by Juice Wrld

"Legends" is a song by American rapper Juice Wrld. It was released as the second single from his EP Too Soon.. on June 22, 2018, three days after the EP's release. The song is an homage to two deceased rappers – Lil Peep, who died by overdose on November 15, 2017, and XXXTentacion, a friend of Juice Wrld's who was murdered on June 18, 2018. After his death in 2019, the song's lyrics were re-contextualized by critics and fans as a prediction of his own fate.

Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, known professionally as Sidhu Moose Wala, was an Indian singer and rapper. He worked predominantly in Punjabi-language music and cinema. Moose Wala is considered to be one of the most influential and successful Punjabi rappers of all time and to many, among the greatest singers of India in this generation.

Moosetape is the second studio album by Indian singer, rapper and songwriter Sidhu Moose Wala, released independently on 15 May 2021. Moose Wala served as the executive producer. Writing was handled by Sidhu dominantly among other artists, while the tracks were produced by The Kidd, Steel Banglez, Snappy, Wazir Patar, and JB. At 32 tracks, it is Moose Wala's longest album, and is also the last to be released before his death on May 29, 2022. It features guest vocals from Bohemia, Tion Wayne, Stefflon Don, Morrisson, Divine, Raja Kumari, Blockboi Twitch and Sikander Kahlon. The most popular track from the album, "GOAT" featuring Jumana Abdu Rahman, surpassed 320 million views on YouTube as of October 2024.

Satinderjeet Singh, also known as Goldy Brar, is a Canada-based Indian gangster. Born in Punjab's Muktsar district, he is wanted by Indian authorities in connection with murder, attempted murder, and drug trafficking. He was associated with Lawrence Bishnoi, another gangster of Punjabi origin who is currently incarcerated. Canada's BOLO program named Brar among its top 25 most wanted fugitives. A National Investigation Agency (CBI) report revealed the Bishnoi gang's and Brar's link to Pro-Khalistan outfits.

Lawrence Bishnoi is an Indian gangster who has been imprisoned since 2014. He faces multiple criminal charges, including those for extortion and murder; however, he has denied all allegations. His gang is reportedly linked to over 700 shooters operating across the world.

"The Last Ride" is a song by Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala. It was self-released as a single on 15 May 2022. The song was produced by Wahzir, and written by Moose Wala. It was his second last song before "LEVELS" in his lifetime before his death on 29 May 2022.

Indian musician Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead by unidentified assailants in his car on 29 May 2022 in Jawaharke village of Mansa at age of 28. According to police, Lawrence Bishnoi's gang initially claimed responsibility for the murder in an unverified Facebook post, which Bishnoi denied making, and he was being held by the Punjab Police as of June 2022 and was considered the "mastermind" of the murder by officials.

Maninder Singh Kalyan, professionally known as Byg Byrd is an Indo-Canadian record producer and record executive. He is also associated with Punjabi music. He produced for variety of artists notably French Montana, Chinx Drugz, Lil Kim, Lil Durk and Jim Jones, along with Punjabi artists including Sidhu Moose Wala, Tarsem Jassar, Sunny Malton, Jazzy B and Prem Dhillon.
