Ecologically important areas

The surroundings of some protected area are declared ecologically important areas, a wider, super-areas which may comprise more, territorially disconnected, singular protected areas. Together, they all form the proclaimed ecological network of Serbia, and are based on some internationally declared important areas. [14] [15] [16]

Tourism in Serbia is officially recognized as a primary area for economic and social growth. The hotel and catering sector accounted for approximately 2.2% of GDP in 2015. Tourism in Serbia employs some 120 000 people, about 4.5% of the country's workforce. In recent years the number of tourists is increasing. In 2019, tourism generated an income of nearly $1.698 billion, hosting 1.85 million tourists. Chinese tourists were the most numerous visitors, followed by tourists from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Turkey, and Germany. In 2022, tourism earnings surged to $2.71 billion and almost 2 million tourists visited the country. Major destinations for foreign tourists are Belgrade, Novi Sad and Niš, while domestic tourists prefer spas and mountain resorts. Eco-friendly and sustainable tourism has also become very popular among domestic tourists, with many visiting various nature reserves and parks in the western and southern part of the country. Serbia is also known for gastronomic tourism, with Belgrade being the central meeting point with over 2000 restaurants, coffee shops, bars and nightlife venues.

Sredorek is a historical and geographical region in northeastern Republic of Macedonia. It includes settlements in the Pčinja river valley, parts of the mountainous regions of Kozjak (Kozjačija), German and Rujen, which are today located within the Municipality of Staro Nagoričane. The region is predominantly inhabited by ethnic Macedonians and ethnic Serbs, adherents of Eastern Orthodoxy. In the Middle Ages, the region was part of the župe (counties) of Žegligovo and Preševo.

Ruski Car or Russian Tsar is a commercial-residential building and a restaurant in downtown Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. It is located in Knez Mihailova Street, a pedestrian zone and a commercial hub of the city. One of the most luxurious restaurants in the city at the time, it was described as a place where "people come to be seen". The building, finished in 1926, was declared a cultural monument in 1987.

The Old Telephone Exchange is a building located in Belgrade, Serbia, at 47 Kosovska Street. It was built according to the project by Branko Tanazević for the telephone exchange and is the first such building in Serbia. It was completed in 1908. The third floor was added later, after the First World War. The building is under state protection since 1981 as a cultural property of great importance. Conservation works were performed in 1988.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Beljarica</span>

Beljarica is a wetland in the Danube valley in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. Since 2013, it is in the process of becoming protected area. Due to the abundant wildlife and undisturbed nature, though being close to downtown Belgrade, it has been nicknamed "Belgrade's Amazonia". With Gornje Podunavlje and Kovilj-Petrovaradin Marshes, both of which have already been declared special nature reserves, Beljarica is among the largest flood zones in Serbia.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Mihailo Milovanović</span> Serbian painter, sculptor and writer

Mihailo Milovanović was a Serbian painter, sculptor and writer. He was one of the founders of the Association of Painters of Serbia. During the First World War, he was a war painter of the Serbian Army's Supreme Command and, as such, he painted portraits of Voivodes Radomir Putnik, Živojin Mišić, Stepa Stepanović and Petar Bojović, as well as General Pavle Jurišić Šturm, King Peter I of Serbia and Regent Alexander Karađorđević.

Osredak Special Nature Reserve is a natural monument in central Serbia. It has been declared a special nature reserve in 2020 in order to preserve the wetlands in the West Morava Valley. The wetland is important for the preservation of the water quality of the West Morava and is the only important wetland locality in the radius of 100 km (62 mi).
