From October 26, 1974 until August 28, 1976, Billboard's Disco Action section published weekly single retail sales charts from various local regions along with Top Audience Response Records in their magazine. Billboard debuted its first national chart devoted exclusively to 12-inch Singles Sales in their issue dated March 16, 1985. This record type is most commonly used in disco and dance music genres where DJs use them to play in discos or dance clubs because of the exclusive extended remixes that are often only made available on this format, but Billboard's 12-inch Single Sales chart ranks releases by artists from all styles of music that release maxi-singles.
Throughout his career, Dutch electronic DJ and producer Tiësto has released seven studio albums. After spending years searching for his personal style and working with DJs like Ferry Corsten, Benno de Goeij and Armin van Buuren, he decided it was time to focus on his solo work. Tiësto's fame started to rise in the late 1990s after his set at the first ID&T Innercity party, and it continued to skyrocket in the early 2000s following his six-hour "Tiësto Solo" sets, which he performed without any other DJs or opening acts. His last three full-length releases broke the 70,000-unit mark, and the 2003 DJ mix Nyana hit 87,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan in mid-2008.
The Dance/Electronic Songs chart has been published weekly by Billboard since January 2013. It is the first chart to be published that ranks the most popular dance and electronic songs according to audience impressions, digital downloads, streaming and club play and it was introduced as a result of in an increase in the genre's popularity.
"Burn" is a song by English singer Ellie Goulding from Halcyon Days (2013), the reissue of her second studio album, Halcyon (2012). The song was written by Ryan Tedder, Goulding, Greg Kurstin, Noel Zancanella and Brent Kutzle, while production was handled by Kurstin and vocal production was done by Tedder. It was released on 5 July 2013 as the lead single from the reissue. The song was originally recorded by British singer Leona Lewis for her third studio album, Glassheart (2012), but it was ultimately scrapped.
"Cake by the Ocean" is the debut single by American band DNCE. It was released through Republic Records as the lead single from their debut extended play, Swaay, on September 18, 2015. It was also included on their self-titled debut studio album, which was released in 2016. "Cake by the Ocean" is a 1970s-inspired pop, R&B, dance, and disco-funk song. The song reached the top 10 on multiple national record charts including those of Australia, Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States. It also topped the U.S. Billboard Adult Pop Songs airplay chart and has been certified Gold or higher by a number of recording industry associations. Billboard ranked "Cake by the Ocean" at number 44 on their "100 Best Pop Songs of 2016" list. Nielsen Music declared "Cake by the Ocean" the second most-played song in Canada for 2016, behind only Canadian singer Justin Bieber's single "Love Yourself".
Mexico Ingles Airplay is a record chart published weekly by Billboard magazine for English-language singles receiving airplay in Mexico. The chart was created in January 2009, with Katy Perry's "Hot n Cold" as the first song to reach the No. 1 position. Three songs by English singer-songwriter Adele peaked at the top of the charts in Mexico and the United States, "Someone like You", "Set Fire to the Rain", and "Hello". Grammy-winning song "We Are Young" by American band fun. featuring Janelle Monáe, was a number-one song in Mexico, the United Kingdom, and the United States after being featured in the TV series Glee and a commercial for Chevrolet that aired during the Super Bowl of 2012. American band Maroon 5 and Scottish DJ Calvin Harris hold the record for most number-one singles in the Mexico Ingles Airplay chart, with seven each.
CamelPhat are an English DJ and production duo, consisting of Dave Whelan and Mike Di Scala, formed in Liverpool in 2006. They are best known for the 2017 single "Cola", which peaked at No. 3 on the UK Dance Chart, and at No. 18 on the UK Singles Chart. The single was a collaboration with UK dance act Elderbrook and was released on Defected Records.
