Waterfalls are formed as water flows over a vertical drop or a series of drops in the course of a stream or river. There are waterfalls in the Republic of Azerbaijan. Those in the northern regions of Azerbaijan usually freeze in winter.
Laza waterfall is the most popular waterfall in the village of Laza in Gusar, which is located in the northeast of the Caucasus Mountains, at the bottom of a high mountainous plateau “Shah yaylag” of the highest alps Shahdag 4242 m above sea level. In winter, climbing competitions are held at the frozen waterfalls here.[ citation needed ]
About 75 metres in height, Afurdja is located in Guba. The waterfall has been included in the list of natural monuments of the Republic of Azerbaijan and is protected by the state. [1]
About 14.8 meters in height, Khudger is located in Shaki District of Azerbaijan. The waterfall has been listed by Aghabalayev Qafqaz and Rahimov Yusif in 2018 during scientific research on the Kish River. [2]
Mychig waterfall is located in Qabala District. It takes its source from snow and rain waters on Gotur mountain and falls into the Demiraparan River. About 96 metres tall, Mychig waterfall is the highest waterfall in Azerbaijan.
"Yeddi gozal" waterfall is located 4 km far from the center of Gabala city, in the settlement of Vendam of Gabala district. It is located on the edge of the Oghuz-Gabala highway.
Tekdam waterfall is located in the Yardimli District and attracts many tourists. It is about 34 m tall.
İlisu waterfall with a height of 25m is located in the Qakh District. One should walk at least half an hour to access the waterfall.
Katekh waterfall 20 meters high is one of the biggest waterfalls in Azerbaijan which is located in Balakan District.
Waterfalls in Ismayilli District are Galajiq, Burovdal, Chaygovushan, Istisu, Pirbenovshe, and Medrese.
Gadabay District is one of the 66 districts of Azerbaijan. It is located in the west of the country and belongs to the Gazakh-Tovuz Economic Region. The district borders the districts of Dashkasan, Shamkir, Tovuz, and the Gegharkunik and Tavush provinces of Armenia. Qabala is a city and the administrative centre of the Qabala District of Azerbaijan. The municipality consists of the city of Gabala and the village of Küsnat. Before the city was known as Kutkashen, but after the Republic of Azerbaijan's independence the town was renamed in honour of the much older city of Gabala, the former capital of Caucasian Albania, the archaeological site of which is about 20 km southwest.
Mount Bazardüzü is a mountain peak in the Greater Caucasus range on the border between Russia (Dagestan) and Azerbaijan. At 4,466 metres (14,652 ft) above sea level, it is the highest peak in both Dagestan and Azerbaijan, and is located in the Qusar region. The southernmost point of Dagestan is located about seven kilometers southwest of the peak. Translated from Azerbaijani, Bazarduzu means “market square”, more precisely as a specific landmark - “turn to the market, bazaar”. In the Middle Ages in the Shahnabad Valley, located east of this peak, annual large multinational fairs were held.
Khinalug, Khynalyg, or Khinalyg, is a municipality and an ancient Caucasian village with origins dating back to the Caucasian Albanian period. It is located high up in the mountains of Quba District, Azerbaijan. The municipality of Khinalug is part of the Quba District and consists of the villages of Khinalug and Galaykhudat. The village was included in the Cultural Landscape of Khinalig People and "Köç Yolu" Transhumance Route UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2023.
Shahan Dasht, locally known as Shoon Dasht, is a village in Bala Larijan Rural District, Larijan District, Amol County, Mazandaran Province, Iran.
Zagatala State Nature Reserve - is a reserve in the Zagatala and Balakan districts of Azerbaijan. It was established in 1929 in the middle part of the southern foothills of the Greater Caucasus Mountains in the territory of Zagatala and Balakan districts on an area of 25200 hectares. It is located on the eastern slope of the Greater Caucasus Range in Azerbaijan. Zagatala Reserve was established in 1930-0 as a separate reserve together with the Balakan Reserve. The height of the reserve varies from 650 to 3646 m above sea level. The flora of the base of the reserve consists of mountain forests and mountain meadows. More than a thousand species of modern flora are observed here. [2] The territory of the reserve has changed many times and now stands at 28,844 hectares. There are more than 900 plant species in the reserve, which is 1/6 of the flora of Azerbaijan. More than 60% of the reserve area consists of broadleaf forests. The main purpose of the reserve is to protect the natural complexes of rare plants on the southern slopes of the Greater Caucasus Mountains.

Kotla is a Village and tourist resort in Bagh District, Azad Kashmir, Pakistan. Kotla is 6,560 feet (2,000 m) above sea level. Kotla contains pine trees that are hundreds of years old. It takes approximately 1 hour to drive from Bagh to Kotla.

Gadelsha Falls is a 15-m-high cascade waterfall in Russia. It is located on the Khudolas River in the Baymaksky District, Republic of Bashkortostan. Khudolas River starts from a spring near the Yaman-Tash mountain and flows along the eastern slope of the Irenyk ridge. The distance from the waterfall to Sibai is 15 km. The Gadelsha waterfall is the highest waterfall in Bashkortostan and has been a natural monument since 1965. It is protected by the state as a unique monument of nature. It has several names: Ibragimovsky, Tuyalas, Khudolas. But still the most common is Gadelsha, a name from a nearby village of the same name.

Toba Waterfall and Arsen Okrojanashvili Cave Natural Monument is the highest in Georgia cascading waterfall of 234 m height and a karst cave complex located 5.6 km to the west from village First Balda in Martvili Municipality, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region of Georgia. It is located at 707 metres above sea level on the left bank of Toba river, left-bank tributary of Abasha river and can be reached by marked hiking trail.
Damiraparanchay is a river in Azerbaijan, flowing through the territory of the Gabala district. The river originates on Mount Kurvedagh at an altitude of about 3850 m. It flows in a south-western direction through the central part of the region, branching out, it falls into the Turyanchay and Goychay rivers. The river meets Goychay at an altitude of 385 m above sea level in the southeast of the village of Bayramkokhaly. In the northern part of Gabala city, in the western direction, the Karachay channel separates from the river, which connects with the Turyanchay river in the north of the Savalan village.
