Live on the Air is a live performance double CD by American jazz pianist Vince Guaraldi (credited to the Vince Guaraldi Trio), released November 14, 2008 through D & D Records (Guaraldi's label).
Live on the Air consists of a live performance recorded on February 6, 1974 (two years to the day before Guaraldi's premature death), at Wally Heider Studios in San Francisco, California. The performance was broadcast live by radio stations KPFA and KPFB. Tracks 1-8 were performed for the original broadcast. The sound engineer then advised Guaraldi and his trio to "play until your heart's content" (Track 9), resulting in three additional songs performed for the studio audience. [2]
Numerous errors were made with respect to song titles and running times. Proper titles and song lengths appear with incorrectly titled tracks in parentheses. [1] [3]

Vincent Anthony Guaraldi was an American jazz pianist best known for composing music for animated television adaptations of the Peanuts comic strip. His compositions for this series included their signature melody "Linus and Lucy" and the holiday standard "Christmas Time Is Here". He is also known for his performances on piano as a member of Cal Tjader's 1950s ensembles and for his own solo career. His 1962 composition "Cast Your Fate to the Wind" became a radio hit and won a Grammy Award in 1963 for Best Original Jazz Composition. He died of a sudden heart attack in February 6, 1976 at age 47, moments after concluding a nightclub performance in Menlo Park, California.
A Charlie Brown Christmas is the eighth studio album by American jazz pianist Vince Guaraldi. The album was released in December 1965 in the U.S. by Fantasy Records and was Guaraldi's final studio album for the label. It is the soundtrack to the Christmas television special of the same name.
