Lize Marke (born Liliane Couck, Denderleeuw, 1 December 1936) is a Belgian singer, best known for her participation in the 1965 Eurovision Song Contest.
Marke started singing professionally in 1962, and first participated in the Belgian Eurovision selection in 1963, when she performed two songs, "Luister naar de wind" and "Saksisch porselein", which made the final, finishing in second and fourth respectively. [1]
Marke sung all six songs in the 1965 Eurovision selection, and "Als het weer lente is" ("When It's Spring Again") was chosen by jury vote as the Belgian representative in the tenth Eurovision Song Contest, held on 20 March in Naples, Italy. [2] "Als het weer lente is" failed to score, finishing in joint last place (with Finland, Germany and Spain) of the 18 entrants. It was Belgium's second "nul pointer", following Fud Leclerc's zero in 1962. [3] Marke was the first female singer to represent Belgium at Eurovision since Mony Marc in the inaugural contest of 1956.
In 1965, Marke fronted her own television show on Belgian channel VRT. Thereafter her career went quieter, although she continued to release records and perform live until the mid-1970s. A compilation CD of her recordings was issued in 2002. [4]

The Netherlands has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 64 times since making its debut as one of the seven countries at the first contest in 1956. The country has missed only four contests, twice because the dates coincided with Remembrance of the Dead, and twice because of being relegated due to poor results the previous year. It has missed the final despite qualifying once, in 2024, due to the personal conduct of its entrant which led to disqualification. The current Dutch participant broadcaster in the contest is AVROTROS. The Netherlands has hosted the contest five times: in Hilversum (1958), Amsterdam (1970), The Hague, and Rotterdam (2021).

Jan Smit is a Dutch singer, television host, and actor. Smit mostly sings songs in the Dutch language, in a genre known as palingsound. In addition to his solo career, in 2015 Smit joined the schlager trio KLUBBB3, and in 2017 The Toppers. As a TV presenter, he has worked on programs like the Beste Zangers and Sterren Muziekfeest op het Plein Since 1999, Smit has been serving as an ambassador for the SOS Children's Villages.
Thor Salden, better known as Thor!, is a former child singer. Salden rose to fame in 2006, being the Belgian contestant at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with "Een tocht door het donker". The song topped the Flemish Ultratop charts for one week. Salden withdrew from the stage at the age of 11.
The Netherlands participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 with the song "On Top of the World" written by Tjeerd Oosterhuis, Martin Gijzemijter and Maarten ten Hove. The song was performed by Edsilia Rombley, who was internally selected by the Dutch broadcaster Nederlandse Omroep Stichting (NOS) to represent the Netherlands at the 2007 contest in Helsinki, Finland after previously representing the country in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1998 where she placed third with the song "Hemel en aarde". Edsilia Rombley's appointment as the Dutch representative was announced on 16 December 2006. Three potential songs were presented to the public on 11 February 2007 during the special programme Mooi! Weer het Nationaal Songfestival where the selected song "Nooit meer zonder jou" was announced. The song was later translated from Dutch to English for the Eurovision Song Contest and was titled "On Top of the World".
The Netherlands was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 1999 with the song "One Good Reason", written by Tjeerd van Zanen and Alan Michael, and performed by Marlayne. The Dutch participating broadcaster, Nederlandse Omroep Stichting (NOS), selected its entry for the contest through Nationaal Songfestival 1999. Ten entries competed in the national final on 14 March 1999 where "One Good Reason" performed by Marlayne was selected as the winner following the combination of votes from an eight-member jury panel and a public vote.

The Netherlands was set to be represented in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 with the song "Grow", written by Jeangu Macrooy and Pieter Perquin, and performed by Macrooy himself. The Dutch participating broadcaster AVROTROS internally selected its entry for the contest. In addition, AVROTROS was also going to be the host broadcaster, along NPO and NOS, after winning the previous edition with the song "Arcade" performed by Duncan Laurence. Macrooy's appointment as the Dutch representative was announced on 10 January 2020, while the song, "Grow", was presented to the public on 4 March 2020.
