Lolita Morena (born 15 October 1960) is an Italian-born Swiss television host and beauty pageant titleholder.

Miss Switzerland

She was a student of Egyptology when she won the Miss Switzerland pageant in 1982. She went on to represent her country at Miss World 1982 and Miss Universe 1983. [1] Coincidentally, she finished as 3rd Runner-Up and was awarded the Miss Photogenic Award in both pageants.[ citation needed ]

Personal life

Aged 3, Morena emigrated to Switzerland with her mother. Her father died of a heart attack, aged 26. Her mother, Antonia, settled in Bôle and worked in a tobacco factory in Neuchâtel.

From 1987 to 2013 Morena hosted for the Swiss television (TSR) programmes such as “Les Coups de cœur d'Alain Morisod” alongside Jean-Marc Richard. “24 et Gagne”, “Fort Boyard Switzerland” and “Potes à pattes”. She also appeared in the “Piques-Meurons” TV show. She presented the Eurovision Song Contest 1989 with Jacques Deschenaux.

In the early 1990s, Morena also worked for foreign television networks, such as RAI in Italy and ARD in Germany.

In 2009, Morena began hosting “TOUDOU” and “Tierreport” for the PSA (Swiss League in Defense of Animals), for which she’s also the Executive Producer.

In 2021, Morena became Co-President of the Neuchâtel Animal Shelter Foundation.

From 1994 to 1999, Morena was married to German football player Lothar Matthäus with whom she had a son. [2]

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Switzerland in the Eurovision Song Contest</span>

Switzerland has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 64 times since its debut at the first contest in 1956, missing only four contests because of being relegated due to poor results the previous year: 1995, 1999, 2001, and 2003. Switzerland hosted the inaugural contest in 1956 in Lugano, where it also won. The country claimed its second victory in 1988, 32 years after the first, and its third in 2024, 36 years after the second win. The Swiss participant broadcaster in the contest is the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation.

Miss Teen USA is a beauty pageant that has been run since 1983 by the Miss Universe Organization for girls aged 14–19 years old as of January 1st of the competition year. They must be US citizens, and cannot have been married, pregnant, or have children. Unlike its sister pageants Miss Universe, which currently broadcasts on JKN18 and like its sister pageant Miss USA, it is televised on The CW television network starting in 2024, after being streamed online for several years. The Miss Universe Organization previously operated Miss Teen USA, as well as Miss USA, until 2020 when the rights to produce both pageants were licensed to Miss USA 2008 Crystle Stewart prior to her suspension in October 2022, thus returning the said pageants to the Miss Universe Organization. The parent company of all three pageants and the Miss Universe organization remains the same under the licensing agreement: JKN Metaverse Inc., a subsidiary of JKN Global Group.
