Loma Prieta (translates to "Dark Hill" [1] ) is an American hardcore punk band that formed in 2005. [2] The group is based in San Francisco, California and derived their name from the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake. [3] Most of the group's early material was released on their own record label named Discos Huelga. [4] Loma Prieta has toured the US, Mexico, Canada, Europe and Japan. They share members with Punch. [4] Their often dark and emotionally charged music blends a range of styles, most prominently screamo and powerviolence. [3] [5]

In June 2011, Loma Prieta recorded music for their fourth studio album with Jack Shirley. [3] Their signing to Deathwish Inc. was announced in October 2011, [6] and released their fourth studio album, titled I.V. , through their new label on January 17, 2012. [7] The album received positive reviews from AbsolutePunk, [8] Alternative Press , [9] and Exclaim! . [2] Two music videos, for the songs "Fly by Night" and "Trilogy 4 - Momentary", have been released to promote I.V. [10] [11] In support of I.V., Loma Prieta toured New Zealand and Australia in January 2012, [7] the United States with Birds in Row in March 2012 [12] and North America with Converge and Git Some in April 2012. [13] The band recorded and released a split with Raein in 2013.[ citation needed ]

On October 2, 2015, Loma Prieta released their fifth full-length studio album titled Self Portrait . The album was described as being a more "literal" and positive album lyrically as opposed to being more "opaque" and angry on previous albums, while sonically Loma Prieta incorporates more melody while retaining the same level of hardcore intensity. [1] To promote the album, the band released a single for the album's opening track "Love" backed with and exclusive B-side titled "Trilogy 0 (Debris)". [14] They also released a music video for "Love" in September 2015. [15]

When People Grow, People Go is the fourth and final studio album by American hardcore punk band Blacklisted. The album was released on February 10, 2015 through Deathwish Inc. When People Grow, People Go is the first release from Blacklisted since 2012's So, You Are A Magician? EP, and first full-length studio album since 2009's No One Deserves to Be Here More Than Me. Writing for the album began in late 2013 and sonically is described as being a mix of the band's more experimental styles and hardcore styles. In December 2014, Blacklisted previewed the track "Deeper Kind" for online streaming followed by a stream of "Burnt Palms" and a music video for "Turn in the Pike" both in January 2015.

Harm's Way is an American straight edge hardcore punk band from Chicago, Illinois, formed in 2006. The band started as a side project, but ended up becoming a more serious and full-time band in their later years. Harm's Way has since released four studio albums: Reality Approaches (2009), Isolation (2011) and Rust (2015) and several EPs. On February 9, 2018, the band released their critically acclaimed Metal Blade Records debut, titled Posthuman. They have been recognized for their unique blend of metal, industrial, and hardcore music.

Self Portrait is the fifth studio album by the American hardcore punk band Loma Prieta. The Jack Shirley-produced album was released on CD, cassette and digital platforms by Deathwish Inc. on October 2, 2015, followed by a vinyl release on November 13 also by Deathwish. In a press release, Self Portrait was described as featuring "unorthodox melodies amid a tangle of pensive, despondent vocals" inspired by the California hardcore bands Funeral Diner and Mohinder, among others.

Oathbreaker is a Belgian band from Flanders, formed in 2008 and currently signed to Deathwish Inc. The band consists of guitarists Lennart Bossu and Gilles Demolder, drummer Wim Coppers, and vocalist Caro Tanghe who performs both screamed and sung vocals. They are a part of Church of Ra, an artistic collective started by Amenra, a band of which Lennart and Caro are also members. Like Amenra, Oathbreaker emerged from the Belgian underground hardcore punk scene but integrated extreme metal and art music aesthetics.
