Makerere University, Kampala is Uganda's largest and oldest institution of higher learning, first established as a technical school in 1922. It became an independent national university in 1970. Today, Makerere University is composed of nine colleges and one school offering programmes for about 36,000 undergraduates and 4,000 postgraduates. The main administrative block was gutted by fire in September 2020 and the cause of the fire is yet to be established.
Makerere College School is a co-educational government aided O and A Level school founded in 1945 by Makerere University. In 1945 Makerere University was still a constituent college of the University of London. The school is located on the main campus of Makerere University, adjacent to the College of Education and External Studies on Makerere Hill Road.

He was Consultant for the African Peer Review Mechanism under NEPAD, was a member of the African Regional Panel of Experts on Development. Nuwagaba is a member of the World Bank Consultative Group that developed the African Plan of Action. He was the team leader of FINSCOPE - Financial Penetration Project (2013). He was a team leader for Developing Financial Management and Training manual for Parliamentary Accountability Committees, member of audit committee of the Ministry of Finance Planning and Economic Development of the Republic of Uganda, winner of International Award for significant Contribution to World Society and Appears In World Who is Who (2004), page 336. In addition, he was a consultant for mid-term review of the National Development Plan for the Republic of Uganda [2010/11–2014/15]. He is a consultant for formulating the East African Community development investment plan (2016/17-2020/21). Nuwagaba is a regular speaker at the induction of members of parliament of Uganda.
Gayaza High School is the oldest all-girls boarding secondary school covering grades 8 to 13 in Uganda. The school is Church-founded, government-aided and accredited by the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Sports.
Syda Namirembe Bbumba is a Ugandan accountant, politician and banker. She served in the Cabinet of Uganda as Minister of Energy and Minerals from 2002 to 2006, Minister of Gender, Labor and Social Development from 2006 to 2008, Minister of Finance from 2009 to 2011, and Minister of Gender, Labor and Social Development again from 2011 to 2012. She was also the elected Member of Parliament for Nakaseke County North, Nakaseke District She was the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on National Economy and also Chairperson of the Parliamentary Islamic Banking Forum. She was Sub-Saharan Africa's representative to the OIC Women Advisory Panel.
Maria Emily Lubega Mutagamba was a Ugandan economist and politician. She was the minister of tourism, wildlife and antiquities in the Ugandan Cabinet from 15 August 2012 until 6 June 2016.
Christine Joyce Dradidi Ondoa is a physician and medical administrator who is regarded as one of Uganda's finest leaders especially in ensuring that the quality of health service delivery in Uganda is improved, and discipline and ethical code of conduct among health workers is observed. She is a Ugandan paediatrician and Christian Leader. She currently serves as the Director General of the Uganda AIDS Commission. She was appointed to that position by the President of Uganda in February 2014. Prior to that, she served as a Senior Presidential Advisor to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Public Health. She was a member of the board of directors of the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI). She was Minister of Health in the Ugandan Cabinet from 2011 to 2013. She was appointed to that position on 27 May 2011, but was replaced by Ruhakana Rugunda on 23 May 2013. On account of being a cabinet minister she was a member of the Ugandan Parliament, in an ex officio capacity. Prior to that, she was the Executive Director of Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital, one of the fourteen regional referral hospitals in Uganda.
Jennifer Semakula Musisi is a Ugandan lawyer and public administrator. She is the first City Leader in Residence at Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative at the Ash Center of the Harvard Kennedy School, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States. She was appointed to this position in January 2019.
Allen Catherine Kagina is a Ugandan administrator and corporate executive. She is the executive director of the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA). She was appointed to that position on 27 April 2015. Before that, from 2004 until 2014, she served as the Commissioner General of the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA).
Maud Kamatenesi Mugisha, is a Ugandan female Natural Scientist and academic administrator. She is the former Vice Chancellor of Bishop Stuart University, a private Chartered institution of Higher Education in Uganda, accredited by the Uganda National Council for Higher Education.
She is currently serving as the Chairperson University Council at Kampala International University since 1st March 2023.
Mary Jossy Nakhanda Okwakol is a Ugandan university professor, academic administrator, zoologist and community leader. She is the current chairperson of the Uganda National Examinations Board.
Geraldine Ssali Busuulwa is a Ugandan accountant and business administrator. She serves as the Permanent Secretary in the Uganda Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives. She was appointed permanent secretary on the 15th July 2021.
Kiira Motors Corporation or KMC is a State Enterprise in Uganda established to champion the Development of the Domestic Automotive Value Chain for job and wealth creation and commercialize the Kiira Electric Vehicle Project. The Equity Partners are the Government of the Republic of Uganda represented by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Office of the President holding 96% of the initial stock and Makerere University holding 4%.
Grace Freedom Kwiyucwiny, also Grace Kwiyucwiny, is a Ugandan politicianwho serves as the State Minister for Northern Uganda in the Ugandan Cabinet. She was appointed to that position on 6 June 2016. She also served as the woman Member of Parliament representing the Zombo District.
Lillian Nakate Segujja commonly Lillian Nakate, is a Ugandan civil engineer and politician who serves as the Member of Parliament representing the Luweero District Women' Constituency in the 10th Parliament.
Keturah Kitariisibwa Katunguka,, also Ketrah Katunguka, is a Ugandan lawyer and judge who serves as a justice of the High Court of Uganda, since 11 March 2016.
Sarah Irene Walusimbi is a Ugandan lawyer and who serves as the Corporation Secretary of the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC).
Agnes Tibayeita Isharaza, is a Ugandan lawyer and corporate executive, who is the Company Secretary and Head of Legal Affairs at Uganda National Social Security Fund, effective 1 April 2019.
Peninnah Tukamwesiga,, is a Ugandan lawyer, who specializes in employment and labor matters. As of March 2019, she serves on the board of the Uganda National Social Security Fund. NSSF Uganda is a retirement benefits company, with nearly US$3 billion in total assets, as of June 2018.
Doreen Nyanjura is a Ugandan politician, who was on 18 June 2020, appointed Deputy Lord Mayor for Kampala, replacing Sarah Kanyike. She also serves as the elected Local Council 5 (LCV) Woman Councillor, representing Makerere University at Kampala Capital City Authority, the governing body of Kampala, the capital and largest city of Uganda. She was elected to her present position in 2016.
