Tiger beetle Subfamily of beetles

Tiger beetles are a large group of beetles, from the Cicindelinae subfamily, known for their aggressive predatory habits and running speed. The fastest known species of tiger beetle, Rivacindela hudsoni, can run at a speed of 9 km/h, or about 125 body lengths per second. As of 2005, about 2,600 species and subspecies were known, with the richest diversity in the Oriental (Indo-Malayan) region, followed by the Neotropics.

Mormopterus Genus of bats

Mormopterus is a genus of molossid microchiropterans, small flying mammals referred to as free-tailed bats. The genus has been the subject of several revisions, and the diversity of taxa centred on Australia were separated to a new genus Ozimops, and two monotypic genera, Setirostris and Micronomus. The species of Mormopterus, in this stricter sense, are only found in areas outside of Australia and West Papua.

Erotylidae Family of beetles

Erotylidae, or the pleasing fungus beetles, is a family of beetles containing over 100 genera. In the present circumscription, it contains 6 tribes and 10 subfamilies. In other words, the narrowly circumscribed Erotylidae correspond to the subfamily Erotylinae in the definition sensu lato. There are doubts on the monophyly of lower ranked taxa within Erotylidae, with further phylogenetic studies requiring better sampling and studies of unexplored character sets, for example the metendosternite and penile flagellum, which are generally lacking detailed morphological studies within the Coleoptera literature.

Chlaeminus is a genus of beetles in the family Carabidae, containing the following species:

Colasposoma Genus of leaf beetles

Colasposoma is a genus of leaf beetles in the subfamily Eumolpinae. It is known from Africa, Asia and Australia.

Anomotachys is a genus of ground beetles in the family Carabidae. There are at least three described species in Anomotachys.

Metarbelidae Family of moths

The Metarbelidae are a family of the Cossoidea also called the carpenter or goat moths, and is sometimes treated as a subfamily, Metarbelinae of the Cossidae. No synapomorphies are shared with the Cossidae based on adult morphology. The family Metarbelidae was first described by Embrik Strand in 1909.

Aspisoma Genus of beetles

Aspisoma is a genus of fireflies in the family Lampyridae. There are at least 70 described species in Aspisoma.

Brachygluta is a genus of ant-loving beetles in the family Staphylinidae. There are more than 80 described species in Brachygluta.

Heterocyathus Genus of coral

Heterocyathus is a genus of coral of the family Caryophylliidae.

Bromiini Tribe of leaf beetles

Bromiini is a tribe of leaf beetles in the subfamily Eumolpinae. The tribe contains approximately 120 genera, which are found worldwide. They are generally thought to be an artificial group, often with a subcylindrical prothorax without lateral ridges and covered with setae or scales.
