Lovecraft's Untold Stories is a 2019 action role-playing video game developed by Blini Games and first published by Fulqrum Publishing.
Players control one of five protagonists, each of whom has different strengths, and fight against Lovecraftian enemies, including cultists, Mi-Go, and the monstrous penguins featured from At the Mountains of Madness . Players must investigate the Cthulhu Mythos while fighting off these threats. Encountering elements of the Mythos cause characters to lose sanity, but sanity can be recovered by consumable items. Lovecraft's Untold Stories blends elements of role-playing, adventure, shooter, and roguelite games. The levels are procedurally generated. [1]
Lovecraft's Untold Stories entered early access in mid-2018. [2] Fulqrum Publishing published Lovecraft's Untold Stories for Windows and macOS on January 31, 2019. BadLand Publishing published it for Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on May 10, 2019. Blini Games themselves published it on iOS and Android on May 3 and October 4, respectively. [3]
A sequel, Lovecraft's Untold Tales 2, entered early access in October 2021 [4] and was released in September 2022. [5]
On Metacritic, Lovecraft's Untold Stories received positive reviews for Windows and mixed reviews for Xbox One. [6] TouchArcade compared it to Wayward Souls , one of the reviewer's favorite games, and praised its gameplay and replayability. [7] Pocket Gamer called it "absolutely stunning" and praised the gameplay for including more than simple action mechanics. They included it in their roundup of the best action games for Android devices. [8]
Call of Cthulhu is a horror fiction role-playing game based on H. P. Lovecraft's story of the same name and the associated Cthulhu Mythos. The game, often abbreviated as CoC, is published by Chaosium; it was first released in 1981 and is in its seventh edition, with licensed foreign language editions available as well. Its game system is based on Chaosium's Basic Role-Playing (BRP) with additions for the horror genre. These include special rules for sanity and luck.
Lovecraftian horror, sometimes used interchangeably with "cosmic horror", is a subgenre of horror fiction and weird fiction that emphasizes the horror of the unknowable and incomprehensible more than gore or other elements of shock. Zeboyd Games is a Indie developer of 8-bit and 16-bit-style indie role-playing games. Zeboyd is most associated with its co-creators Robert Boyd and William Stiernberg who did the great majority of the work for their games. The studio got its start with Breath of Death VII and Cthulhu Saves the World; later made the third and fourth installments in the Penny Arcade Adventures series; and has since switched to the 16-bit style RPG Cosmic Star Heroine and Cthulhu Saves Christmas. Stiernberg left the studio in 2023, but it continues onward under Boyd.

Kingdom Rush is a tower defense game developed by Ironhide Game Studio and published by Armor Games. It was released on July 28, 2011, as a browser game, followed by ports for iOS in December 2011, Android on May 13, 2013, and Windows and macOS on January 6, 2014. In the game's medieval fantasy setting, players take control of a general serving under King Denas of Linirea, who must defend the land from an onslaught of evil monsters. Each level is composed of a number of pre-set roads, which the player can place defensive towers around to fight off the approaching monsters. Slaying enemies gives the player gold, which they can use to buy new towers or upgrade existing ones to improve their capabilities.
Epic Astro Story is a simulation video game developed and published by Kairosoft for the Android and iOS operating systems. It was released in December, 2011 for Android and in April, 2012 for iOS. The player is tasked with managing and expanding a colony in a science fiction setting, while also exploring both their colony and other planets. The game has received mostly positive reviews from critics.

Alto's Adventure is a 2015 endless runner snowboarding video game developed by Team Alto and published by Snowman (iOS) and Noodlecake Studios (Android). The player-character automatically moves to the right of the screen through procedurally generated landscapes. The player taps the screen to jump and perform tricks (backflips), and works towards goals, competitive high scores, and upgrades. Snowman, a Toronto-based, three-person indie development team, previously worked on productivity apps before Alto's Adventure. The game was made to emulate the ethereal atmosphere of snowboarding, and was inspired by Ski Safari (2012), Tiny Wings (2012), Jetpack Joyride (2011), Journey (2012), Monument Valley (2014), Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 (2000), and Windosill (2009).
Knights of Pen & Paper is a role-playing video game developed by Behold Studios and published by Paradox Interactive and Seaven Studio. It was released on October 30, 2012, for iOS and Android, and on June 18, 2013, for Windows, OS X and Linux. A Nintendo Switch version, entitled Knights of Pen & Paper: +1 Deluxier Edition, was released on May 29, 2018, in North America and Europe and on November 21, 2019, in Japan. Split into ten chapters, the game follows protagonist Noctis Lucis Caelum and his party across the world of Eos, with players navigating semi-linear environments and fulfilling quests to advance the story. The first chapter is available for free, while subsequent chapters must be purchased.
