James Wesley Essex, better known by his stage name J-Wess, is an American-Australian hip hop and R&B music producer. J-Wess is currently in the studio working on new music to follow up his most recent single titled 'Get Down'. He is based out of Los Angeles, California and Melbourne, Victoria. His sole album, J-Wess Presents Tha LP, reached the top twenty in Australia in 2005, and included three hit singles.

Big Brovaz is an R&B and hip hop music group from London, England. In their seven-year career they released two studio albums and eight singles. There were three line-up changes with two of the original members leaving halfway through. In 2006, the only two female members launched their own band Booty Luv, which was taking off following the success of their debut single "Boogie 2nite". After their second album failed to chart and with low sales of their last two singles, the band decided to split. In May 2012, the four members from the third line-up reformed and toured Australia with S Club 3.

The song was marketed as a remix of "Ain't It Funny", but is actually an entirely different song with the same title. It features guest vocals from Ja Rule (Jeffrey Atkins) and Caddillac Tah (Tiheem Crocker). It was written by Lopez, Atkins, Tah, Cory Rooney, Irving Lorenzo, and Ashanti. A music video for "Boogie 2nite" and "Smoking Cigarettes" was directed by Little X and filmed in Toronto over the weekend of September 28–29, 2002, but it was ultimately cancelled.
