Lynwood Wayne Lewis Jr. (born November 26,1961) is an American politician and lawyer. A Democrat,he was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates in November 2003,representing the 100th district,which consists of the Eastern Shore counties of Accomack and Northampton,and parts of the cities of Norfolk and Hampton. On November 16,2013,Lewis won the Democratic Party nomination for Virginia's 6th Senate district,which had been held by lieutenant governor-elect Ralph Northam (D). On January 10,2014,the Virginia State Board of Elections certified that Lewis had won the special election for Northam's senate seat by only nine votes out of over 20,000 cast. His Republican opponent sought a recount,which was held on January 27. After most of the recount had been completed,it became clear that Lewis's lead had held and his opponent conceded. Lewis was sworn in on January 28,2014,giving Democrats control of the chamber.
In March 2023,Lewis announced he would not run for reelection in the 2023 election. [2]

Adam Paul Ebbin is an American politician who is the senator from the 39th District of the Virginia Senate since January 2024. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously represented the 39th Senate District from 2012 to 2024 and served in the Virginia House of Delegates from the 49th District from 2004 to 2012.
Mark Rankin Herring is an American lawyer and politician who served as the 47th Attorney General of Virginia from 2014 to 2022. A Democrat, he previously served in the Senate of Virginia since a 2006 special election, representing the 33rd district, made up of parts of Fairfax and Loudoun counties. In 2021, Herring lost re-election for a third term to Republican challenger Jason Miyares.
Paula Jean Miller is an American politician. She was a Democratic member of the Virginia House of Delegates 2005–2012, representing the 87th district in the city of Norfolk. She ran unsuccessfully for the Democratic nomination for the special election to fill the seat being vacated by Ralph Northam, who was elected Lieutenant Governor of Virginia, in the Virginia Senate, District 6, representing portions of Norfolk, the Eastern Shore, and Virginia Beach. She lost to fellow delegate Lynwood Lewis.
Emmett Wilson Hanger Jr. is an American politician of the Republican Party. He was a member of the Virginia House of Delegates from 1983 to 1991, when he was unseated by Creigh Deeds. He then served as member of the Senate of Virginia, representing the 24th district from 1996 to 2024. On November 3, Hala Ayala conceded the race, making Republican Winsome Sears the first black woman to be elected to the lieutenant governorship of Virginia or any statewide office, as well as the first woman elected lieutenant governor in Virginia's history. Sears was also the first Jamaican-American to become a lieutenant governor.
