MD&DI is a trade magazine for the medical device and diagnostic industry published by Informa Markets (Los Angeles). [1] It includes peer-reviewed articles on specific technology issues and overviews of key business, industry, and regulatory topics. [2] It was established in 1979. In 2009 it had a monthly print circulation of 48,040 [3] but is now an online publication with a claimed circulation of 89,000. Informa Markets and the magazine has also sponsored the Medical Design and Manufacturing (MD&D) West Conference & Exposition (formerly the MD&DI West Conference & Expo), a medical device trade show, since 1978. [4]

The magazine sponsored the Medical Design Excellence Awards [3] and produces a list of 100 Notable People in the Medical Device Industry. [5] The term "use error" was first used in May 1995 in an MD&DI guest editorial, The Issue Is 'Use,' Not 'User,' Error, by William Hyman. [6]

The term use error has recently been introduced to replace the commonly used terms human error and user error. The new term, which has already been adopted by international standards organizations for medical devices, suggests that accidents should be attributed to the circumstances, rather than to the human beings who happened to be there.

Live Design is a monthly digital trade magazine, owned by Questex, that covers the latest projects and gear in live entertainment, including theatre, film, concerts, opera, ballet, architainment, and more. Columbia College Chicago's Theatre Department cites it for providing "comprehensive coverage for professionals in the fields of lighting, sound, staging, and projection." It originated as Lighting Dimensions, which combined with Theatre Crafts and Entertainment Design (1999-2005). Until December 2013, it was a print magazine, but has since converted to a free app with monthly issues for Apple and Android devices. In her undergraduate textbook on stage management, Lawrence Stern recommends subscribing to the magazine and attending LDI as way for professional stage managers to keep current on theater technology. Live Design also presents awards and scholarships to younger designers, including the Pat MacKay Diversity In Design Scholarships for undergraduates and the Rising Star Award to early career professional designers.

Electronics right to repair is proposed legislation that would provide the practical means for electronics equipment owners to repair their devices. Repair is legal under copyright law and patent law. However, owners and independent technicians are often unable to make their own repairs because of manufacturer limitations on access to repair materials such as parts, tools, diagnostics, documentation and firmware.
