MLHappy was an ill-fated ferry that sunk near Barisal City, Bangladesh on 19 February 2009. [1] At least 39 people died in the sinking. [2]

The 2009 Bangladesh ferry accident occurred on 4 December 2009 on the Daira river located in Mithamain Upazila, Kishoreganj District in Bangladesh. A passenger ferry collided head-on with a launch. At least 47 people were killed. The accident occurred in the morning when the river was covered by fog.
On 10 September 2011, MV Spice Islander I, a passenger ferry carrying over 2,000 passengers, sank off the coast of Zanzibar. The ferry was travelling between Unguja and Pemba, two islands off the coast of mainland Tanzania, when it capsized. Early estimates put the death toll at around 200, but a report published by the Tanzanian government in January 2012 claimed that over 1,500 people had been killed.

On 22 February 2015, a two-deck ferry traveling on the Padma River in the Manikganj District, Dhaka Division in Dhaka, Bangladesh, capsized. Up to 70 people, including 19 children, were killed in the crash when it hit a trawler.
The MV Butiraoi was a 17.5-metre (57 ft) wooden catamaran that operated as a ferry in Kiribati. On 18 January 2018, it left the island of Nonouti carrying 88 passengers. Bound for Betio, the ferry was planned to make the 240-kilometre (150 mi) voyage in two days. According to survivors the overloaded ferry broke in half and sank.
ML Rabit Al Hasan was a Bangladesh double-decker passenger ferry that sank on 4 April 2021 in the Shitalakshya River in Narayanganj District near Dhaka. The ship was carrying more than 50 passengers and crew of which 35 died.
