The 2024 Myanmar National League Cup is the 10th season in a Myanmar's knockout football competition. The Cup name changed from General Aung San Shield. MNL League Cup tournament will held new design format. In the Myanmar National League Cup 2024 football tournament, all MNL-1 and MNL-2 clubs included and four group of five clubs will be drawn. [2] Every Group will play Two Round Robin system and the Group winner (4 clubs) will advance to Semi-final. Semi-final and Final are played as a single match. [3]
The drawing-lot event for the Myanmar National League Cup 2024 football tournament, which will see the competition of the domestic football clubs on the eve of the new MNL football season, was held on 15 February at the meeting hall of Thuwunna Stadium. [4] Shan United, Yangon United, Hanthawaddy United and ISPE are placed in Seeding 1 because of top four teams in 2023 Myanmar National League title.

The Myanmar National League is the premier national professional football league of Myanmar. In 2009, the league replaced the Myanmar Premier League, which consisted only of 14 Yangon-based football clubs, with eight professional clubs representing different regions across the nation. On 16 May 2009, the league launched its inaugural two-month tournament, the Myanmar National League Cup 2009 in preparation for the first full season in 2010. Despite its national ambitions, the league held the MNL Cup 2009 matches in the country's two main stadiums in Yangon due to the lack of adequate facilities elsewhere. On 5 July 2009, Yadanabon FC defeated Yangon United FC in the MNL Cup final to become the first-ever MNL Champions.
Yangon United Football Club is a Burmese football club, based at Yangon United Sports Complex, in Yangon, Myanmar. Owned by Tay Za, a prominent Burmese businessman, the club was one of eight teams that participated in the inaugural edition of the Myanmar National League in 2009, where they finished as runners-up. The club have won a record of 5 league titles, 3 General Aung San Shield and 3 MFF Charity Cup.
MNL Cup Grand Royal 2009 is the inaugural knock-out club football tournament of the Myanmar National League. The tournament, held at the Aung San Stadium and the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon between 16 May and 5 July 2009, was contested by all eight clubs of the newly formed professional league. Yadanabon FC finished on top, one point ahead of Yangon United FC in group stage. On 5 July 2009, Yadanabon defeated Yangon United in the cup final on penalty shootout, to become the reigning champions of the league.
The 2010 AFC President's Cup was the sixth edition of the AFC President's Cup, an annual international association football competition between domestic clubs sides run by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
The 2011 AFC President's Cup was the seventh edition of the AFC President's Cup, a football competition organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for clubs from "emerging countries" in Asia.
The 2012 AFF Championship qualification tournament was the qualification process for the 2012 AFF Championship, the ninth edition of the ASEAN Football Championship. It was held in Yangon, Myanmar from 5 to 13 October 2012, and involved the five lower ranked teams in Southeast Asia. The format was a single round-robin tournament with the top two teams qualifying for the tournament proper.
The 2009 AFF U-16 Women's Championship was held from 9 to 18 October 2009, hosted by Myanmar. All games were played at the Thuwunna Stadium and Aung San Stadium. It was the first tournament held for this age bracket amongst the group of annual AFF Women's Championship events.

The 27th association football tournament at the 2013 SEA Games took place in Myanmar between 7–21 December. It was played among U-23 national teams, while the women's tournament had no age limit.

The 2016 AFC U-19 Championship qualification decided the participating teams of the 2016 AFC U-19 Championship. The tournament is the 39th edition of the AFC U-19 Championship, the biennial international youth football championship organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for the men's under-19 national teams of Asia.
The 2015 General Aung San Shield Final was the 5th final of the MFF Cup. Ayeyawady United won the match 2-1 with goals from Riste Naumov and Kyaw Min Oo, for their third title. Moukailou scored for Yadanarbon FC. Ayeyawady qualified to AFC Cup competition with its win. The match was played at Bogyoke Aung San Stadium in Yangon. on 27 September 2015 and was the final match of the Bogyoke Aung San Cup.
The 2016 AFC Cup group stage was played from 23 February to 11 May 2016. A total of 32 teams competed in the group stage to decide the 16 places in the knockout stage of the 2016 AFC Cup.
The 2016 AYA Bank Cup was a four-nation football tournament hosted in Yangon, Myanmar from 3–6 June 2016.
The 2017 AFF U-18 Youth Championship was the 15th edition of the AFF U-19 Youth Championship, organised by ASEAN Football Federation. It was hosted by Myanmar during September 2017. Eleven out of the twelve member associations of the ASEAN Football Federation took part in the tournament featuring two groups of five and six teams.
The 2017 AFC Cup group stage was played from 20 February to 31 May 2017. A total of 34 teams competed in the group stage to decide the 11 places in the knockout stage of the 2017 AFC Cup.
The 2017 General Aung San Shield Final is the 7th final of the MFF Cup. The General Aung San Shield winner will qualify to AFC Cup competition. The match was contested by Shan United and Yangon United at Bogyoke Aung San Stadium in Yangon. The match will play on 25 October 2017 and was the final match of the Bogyoke Aung San Cup.
The 2018 AFC Cup group stage was played from 10 February to 16 May 2018. A total of 36 teams competed in the group stage to decide the 11 places in the knockout stage of the 2018 AFC Cup.

The 2023 Myanmar National League was the fourteenth season of first-division domestic football in Myanmar. It consisted of twelve teams, as two teams from the 2022 MNL-2 were promoted.
