MTV Unplugged is a live album by the English alternative rock band Placebo. It was released on 27 November 2015, in the formats of CD, DVD, Blu-ray, double vinyl, limited edition double vinyl picture disc, digital download and limited edition super deluxe box set. [3] Recorded on 19 August 2015 at The London Studios, it is part of the MTV Unplugged series. [4]

Taking place during the band's 20th anniversary period, the performance featured a number of songs that were never played live before or not played live for several years, including "Bosco", "Jackie" and "Protect Me from What I Want". Among the instruments used on stage was a qanun purchased in Morocco.

During their MTV Unplugged concert, Placebo hosted two musical guests: Danish artist Broken Twin (Majke Voss Romme), with whom they performed "Every You Every Me", as well as the American Joan As Police Woman, who participated in a duet during "Protect Me from What I Want".

Placebo are an English rock band, formed in London in 1994 by vocalist–guitarist Brian Molko and bassist–guitarist Stefan Olsdal. Drummer Robert Schultzberg joined in late 1994, but left in 1996 shortly after the release of the band's eponymous debut album due to conflicts with Molko, and was replaced the same year by Steve Hewitt.

MTV Unplugged is a 1993 live album by 10,000 Maniacs, recorded for the MTV Unplugged series.

"The Man Who Sold the World" is a song written by English singer-songwriter David Bowie. The title track of Bowie's third studio album of the same name, it was released in November 1970 in the US and in April 1971 in the UK by Mercury Records. Produced by Tony Visconti, it was recorded at Trident and Advision Studios in London in May 1970, towards the end of the album's sessions; Bowie recorded his vocal on the final day of mixing for the album, reflecting his generally dismissive attitude during the sessions. Musically, it is based around a "circular" guitar riff from Mick Ronson. Its lyrics are cryptic and evocative, being inspired by numerous poems including "Antigonish" by William Hughes Mearns. Bowie's vocals are heavily "phased" throughout and have been described as "haunting".

Got Me Wrong 1994 single by Alice in Chains

"Got Me Wrong" is a largely acoustic song by the American rock band Alice in Chains, originally featured on the band's 1992 EP, Sap. Written by guitarist and vocalist Jerry Cantrell, who also shared vocals with Layne Staley. A slightly different version of the song also appeared on the soundtrack to the 1994 comedy film Clerks, and is played when the character Randal first appears in the movie. "Got Me Wrong" was released as a single in 1994 after being featured on Clerks. The song was included on the compilation albums Nothing Safe: Best of the Box (1999) and Music Bank (1999). Written by Jerry Cantrell, who also sings lead vocals, the song appears on the band's third studio album, Alice in Chains (1995), and it is about the 1995 breakup of the band. The song was part of the band's MTV Unplugged performance, used to close the televised broadcast. The B-side is the original studio version. The single peaked at No. 4 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, and at No. 24 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart in 1996. The song was included on the box set Music Bank (1999) and the compilation album The Essential Alice in Chains (2006). The MTV Unplugged concert was the first and only time that Alice in Chains performed the song. It was performed again 23 years later at Jerry Cantrell's solo concert at the Pico Union Project in Los Angeles on December 6, 2019.

We Come in Pieces is the second live DVD by the alternative rock band Placebo. It was announced on 24 August 2011 and released on 31 October 2011. It was recorded during a Placebo concert in Brixton Academy, London, on 28 September 2010, the final show of the Battle for the Sun Tour. The live performance includes 20 songs, 15 of which were exclusive to that DVD.

Unplugged: The Complete 1991 and 2001 Sessions is a 2014 live album from alternative rock band R.E.M., released initially on vinyl recordings through Rhino Records for Record Store Day, later made available on compact disc and digitally. The album is composed of two performances that the band made on the U.S. television show MTV Unplugged. Among the album's 33 tracks are 11 performances which were not aired on either broadcast. To promote the album, Mike Mills signed copies at independent record store Bull Moose in Scarborough, Maine. Video of the concerts was released later that year on REMTV.

MTV Unplugged is the first live album by Australian alternative band Gang of Youths. Gang of Youths were the first band to record a MTV Unplugged live in Australia. The album includes 9 tracks from their album Go Farther in Lightness and one from their EP Let Me Be Clear. Gang Of Youths bassist Max Dunn said the performance was a “pretty important moment” for the group. Dunn said “It's a cool chance to do something a little different and stretch ourselves and give the fans a little more experience of the songs. That's kind of the main thing. In terms of ‘MTV Unplugged’, it’s an important thing from back in the day and it's cool that it's happening and we get to be a part of it.” The recording took place at Cobblestone Pavilion, West Melbourne on 25 July 2018 and was broadcast on MTV Australia on 19 August 2018. The album was released on 26 October 2018.
