Local elections were held in Machakos County to elect a Governor and County Assembly on 4 March 2013. [1] Under the new constitution, which was passed in a 2010 referendum, the 2013 general elections were the first in which Governors and members of the County Assemblies for the newly created counties were elected. Machakos County County in Kenya

Machakos County is a county of Kenya. Its capital is Machakos. Its largest town is Machakos, the country's first administrative headquarters. The county had a population of 1,098,584 as of 2009. The county borders Nairobi and Kiambu counties to the west, Embu to the north, Kitui to the east, Makueni to the south, Kajiado to the south west, and Muranga and Kirinyaga to the north west.

Dr Alfred Nganga Mutua is a Kenyan politician who is the Governor of Machakos County. Mutua was the Kenyan government spokesman before resigning to run for the office of County Governor.


Wavinya Ndeti is a Kenya politician who was Member of Parliament for Kathiani. She was a WDM-K candidate for Machakos Governor in 2017, having contested the seat previously in 2013 on CCU ticket and lost on both occasions to Incumbent Dr. Alfred Mutua.

Kathiani Constituency is an electoral constituency in Kenya. It is one of eight constituencies in Machakos County. The constituency was established for the 1988 elections.
