Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta is a Kenyan politician, businessman, and the fourth and current President of the Republic of Kenya. He served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Gatundu South from 2002 to 2013. Currently, he is a member and the party leader of the Jubilee Party of Kenya. Uhuru was previously associated with the Kenya Africa National Union before joining The National Alliance, one of the allied parties that campaigned for his reelection during the 2017 general elections.
Elections in Kenya take place within the framework of a multi-party democracy and a presidential system. The President, Senate and National Assembly are directly elected by voters, with elections organised by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
The Senate is the upper house of the Parliament of Kenya. The Senate was first established as part of Kenya's 1963 Constitution. After being abolished in 1966, the Senate was re-established by the 2010 Constitution.

While it is not necessary to hold a degree to become e.g. president of the United States, a degree of a university recognised in Kenya is necessary to run for a gubernator seat.

The Kenya Presidential Election Petition of 2013 was an election petition aiming to declare the Kenya presidential election 2013 invalid. The Petition was filed at the Supreme Court of Kenya on 16 March 2013.

Wavinya Ndeti is a Kenyan politician who has been chairlady of the governing council of the Kenya Water Institute since 7 February 2019. She previously served as a Member of Parliament for the Kathiani Constituency in the 10th Kenyan parliament. She was the first and so far only woman to have represented the constituency since independence. She was a WDM-K candidate for Machakos Governor in 2017, having contested the seat previously in 2013 on the CCU ticket, but lost on both occasions to incumbent Alfred Mutua.
