The Goldenberg scandal was a political scandal where the Kenyan government was found to have subsidised exports of gold far beyond standard arrangements during the 1990s,by paying the company Goldenberg International 35% more than their foreign currency earnings. Although it notionally appears that the scheme was intended to earn hard currency for the country,it is estimated to have cost Kenya the equivalent of more than 10% of the country's annual gross domestic product,and it is possible that no or minimal amounts of gold were actually exported. The scandal appears to have involved political corruption at the highest levels of the government of Daniel Arap Moi. Officials in the former government of Mwai Kibaki have also been implicated.
The Luhya are a Bantu people and the second largest ethnic group in Kenya. The Luhya belong to the larger linguistic stock known as the Bantu. The Luhya are located in western Kenya and Uganda. They are divided into 20 culturally and linguistically united clans. Once known as the Kavirondo,multiple small tribes in North Nyanza came together under the new name Baluhya between 1950 and 1960. The Bukusu are the largest Luhya subtribe and account for almost 50% of the entire Luhya population,dominating other Luhya subtribes. They live in both Bungoma and Trans-Nzoia counties.
Western Province was one of Kenya's seven administrative provinces outside Nairobi. It is inhabited mainly by the Luhya people. Quakerism is widely practised here. Kenya's second highest mountain,Mount Elgon is located in Bungoma District. The Kakamega Forest rainforest is part of the area. The province capital was Kakamega. After the 2013 general election,and the coming into effect of the new constitution,provinces became defunct and the country is currently divided into 47 counties. Each county has its own government and therefore there is no central regional capital. Western Province became the Western region,comprising four counties:Kakamega,Bungoma,Vihiga,and Busia.
Busia is a county in the former Western Province of Kenya. It is located directly east of the border town of Busia,Uganda,and borders Lake Victoria to the southwest,Siaya County to the southeast,and Bungoma County and Kakamega County to the east. The county is composed of six sub-counties,and had a population of 893,681 as of the most recent census in 2019.
The East African Federation is a proposed federal sovereign state consisting of the eight member states of East African Community in the African Great Lakes region –Burundi,the Democratic Republic of the Congo,Kenya,Rwanda,South Sudan,Tanzania,Somalia and Uganda. The idea of this federation has existed since the early 1960s but has not yet come to fruition for several reasons. In September 2018,a committee was formed to begin the process of drafting a regional constitution,and a draft constitution for the confederation was set to be written by the end of 2021 with its implementation by 2023. However,the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted plans to draft and implement a constitution. On 9 May 2023,the drafting of the constitution resumed with a 20-day consultation with local stakeholders in Kenya.

He is an international lawyer trained in Nairobi and Washington,DC. Since 2016 he has been the leader of the Labour Party of Kenya. Ababu is also the immediate Former Chief Administrative Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kenya.

Erupting in June 2008,the Grand Regency Scandal concerns the sale of the Grand Regency Hotel in Downtown Nairobi,Kenya,from the Central Bank of Kenya to an unspecified group of Libyan investors called "Libya Arab African Investment Company". The sale was directed by Finance Minister Amos Kimunya,leading to the passage of near-unanimous censure of Kimunya by the Kenyan Parliament on 1 July 2008. On 8 July 2008 Kimunya submitted his resignation,and called for an investigation to clear his name.

Benjamin Josses Odoki is a former Chief Justice of Uganda,former Supreme Court Justice of Eswatini,and current Chairman of the Committee of Constitutional Experts for Drafting the EAC Political Federation Constitution,the committee drafting the constitution for the East African Confederation. Odoki served as the tenth Chief Justice of Uganda from 2001 to 2013 after fifteen years as a Judge on the Supreme Court of Uganda. He was a State Attorney of Uganda previous to his appointment to the court in 1986.
Since Kenya gained independence in 1963, the constitution has been altered many times. During the early years of Kenya's existence,the constitution was abused by the president and the ruling party to gain and consolidate power. This was achieved through the creation of a single-party state,the abolition of secret ballots,and increasing the power and prestige that comes with the presidential position.

Sub-counties,also known as Districts,are the decentralised units through which government of Kenya provides functions and services. At national level,sub-counties take a more administrative function like security,statistical purposes,provision of government services,etc. Even though the sub-counties are divisions of counties,powers to create new national sub-counties lies with the national government. As of 2023,there are 314 sub-counties,compared to 290 constituencies. A deputy county commissioner is appointed by the state to lead each sub-county. The sub-counties are further divided into divisions,locations and sub-locations.
Justin Bedan Njoka Muturi is the immediate former Attorney General of Kenya who served as the seventh Speaker of the National Assembly of Kenya from 2013 to 2022. He is the first speaker to serve following the reestablishment of a bicameral Parliament by the 2010 Constitution. On 28 March 2013,Muturi won the speakership after a second round of voting by members of the National Assembly,beating former speaker Kenneth Marende by a 219–129 margin.
Matayos constituency is a sub-county of Busia County in the western province of Kenya. It is one of seven constituencies in Busia County. The constituency is along the Kisumu-Busia Highway and is mainly occupied by the Bakhayo,a sub-clan of the Luhya people. Being part of the lucrative investment grounds,the settlers in the region depend mainly on livestock and grains as their primary source of income. Additional contributions to the local economy include fishing and other agricultural activities. Matayos is the home of Amos Wako,the longest serving Attorney General in Kenya. The area MP is Geoffrey Makokha Odanga of the ODM party.
Philomena Mbete Mwilu is a Kenyan lawyer and judge,who has served as the Deputy Chief Justice of Kenya and Vice President of the Supreme Court of Kenya since 28 October 2016. Following the retirement of Chief Justice David Maraga,and before Martha Koome was appointed as the Chief Justice,she served as Acting Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court of Kenya from 11 January 2021 to 19 May 2021,making her the first woman to hold that office.
