Mad Planet was an indie electronic rock band from Silverlake, California, consisting of Cooper Gillespie (bass/vocals), Greg Gordon (drums, sequences) and Tony Crouse (guitars, keys). Mad Planet was formed in 2009. Their debut album, All Elephants, was released in 2010. The record garnered them a position in the CMJ Top 200 charts. [1] [2] In 2011 the band released an EP, Gliese 581g.

The band has been featured in Filter Magazine (Discovering the Undiscovered) [1] , CMJ.com (Sonicbids Spotlight Artist), [3] Deli Magazine (named as one of Los Angeles' best new artists), [4] Consequence of Sound [5] and BMI.com (Indie Spotlight Artist). [6]

After Mad Planet, Gillespie and Gordon started a new band, called Ultra Violent Rays. [7] Later they moved to Landers and formed another band, named Landroids. [8] Tony Crouse continued his career as independent songwriter and producer. [9]

Company of Thieves were an American indie rock band from Chicago, Illinois, founded by Genevieve Schatz (vocals) and Marc Walloch (guitar). Their first album, Ordinary Riches, was released independently in 2007 and re-released in 2009. Their second album, Running from a Gamble, was released in 2011. The band announced they had no plans to record any new music as of January 2014, but announced a reunion in May 2017.

The Shiny Brights

The Shiny Brights are an indie rock band from Adelaide, Australia. The five members have varied tastes in music that all influence their songs; a mix of post-punk, Brit pop and garage rock, held together by lead singer Wolfgang's distinctive voice and the band's four-part gang vocals. They rehearse in a warehouse full of washing machines which inspired the band name, deriven from a laundromat franchise in Adelaide called Shiny Brights.

Gliese 581g Unconfirmed super-Earth orbiting Gliese 581

Gliese 581g, unofficially known as Zarmina, is an unconfirmed exoplanet claimed to orbit within the Gliese 581 system, twenty light-years from Earth. It was discovered by the Lick–Carnegie Exoplanet Survey, and is the sixth planet orbiting the star; however, its existence could not be confirmed by the European Southern Observatory (ESO) / High Accuracy Radial Velocity Planet Searcher (HARPS) survey team, and its existence remains controversial. It is thought to be near the middle of the habitable zone of its star. That means it could sustain liquid water—a necessity for all known life—on its surface, if there are favorable atmospheric conditions on the planet.

Ben Rice (producer) Musical artist

Ben Rice is an American record producer, sound engineer, mixer, songwriter, and musician. He is best known for his work with musical artists Valerie June, Norah Jones, The Candles, Jonas Brothers, James Bay, and The Skins, as well as record producers Eddie Kramer, Gus van Go, and Youth. In 2021 Rice received a nomination for Producer of the Year at the Americana Awards for his work on Valerie June’s album “The Moon and Stars: Prescriptions For Dreamers”, which was nominated for Album of the Year.
