Born in Bangalore in a Bengali family, Bhattacharya studied at the Army Public School and later went to Mount Carmel College to study psychology and Ramaiah College to study law.[ citation needed ] She lived in R.T. Nagar, Bangalore with her parents, before moving to Mumbai to pursue modelling. [3] She won several beauty contests including the Miss Bangalore title before embarking on her film career. [4] She is now married to a businessman Anurag Arya.
Bhattacharya started her film career by appearing in the Kannada films Khushi and Bisi Bisi. She also modelled for two videos of Sonu Nigam from his album Neene Bari Neene . [5] She acted in Sahara One's television series Kuchh Love Kuchh Masti which was the Indian adaptation of the popular series Sex and the City . [6] [7] In 2009, she appeared in two Bollywood films, Bachelor Party and 3 Nights 4 Days. [8] Her first full fledge role came in the 2010 comedy, Prem Kaa Game alongside Arbaaz Khan. [9] In 2011, she featured in the popular item song "Tinku Jiya" alongside Dharmendra and Bobby Deol in the film Yamla Pagla Deewana . [10] She has completed her third Kannada film Prasad, in which she plays the mother of a deaf-mute eight-year-old boy. [11]

Yamla Pagla Deewana is a 2011 Indian Hindi-language action comedy film directed by Samir Karnik, featuring Dharmendra, Sunny Deol, and Bobby Deol in the lead roles. The film marks the second pair-up between the Deol family, after Apne (2007). The film's title is inspired by the song "Main Jat Yamla Pagla Deewana" from the 1975 film, Pratigya also starring Dharmendra. The theatrical trailer of the film was unveiled on 5 November 2010, while the film was released on 14 January 2011, and received a good response upon release. It turned out to be a box office hit. It is the first installment of the Yamla Pagla Deewana film series and the 11th highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2011.

It is a remake of the 2004 Kannada film Bisi Bisi starring Ramesh Aravind, Anu Prabhakar, and Madhuri Bhattacharya, which itself was loosely based on the 1955 movie The Seven Year Itch.

The film stars Salman Khan, Sudeepa, Sonakshi Sinha, Saiee Manjrekar and Arbaaz Khan. It also features Pramod Khanna, Dimple Kapadia and Mahesh Manjrekar in supporting roles. Written by Salman, the story follows corrupt cop Chulbul Pandey's journey of conflict when he comes across an old ruffian, Bali Singh, whose plain sight refreshes his memory in a trudge down the past, unaware that this can affect the present and the future in more ways than one.
