Magomedbek Aliyev (born 14 May 1967) is a Russian judoka. He competed in the men's lightweight event at the 1992 Summer Olympics, representing the Unified Team. [1]

Ilham Heydar oghlu Aliyev is an Azerbaijani politician who is the fourth and current president of Azerbaijan. The son and second child of former Azerbaijani president Heydar Aliyev, Aliyev became the country's president on 31 October 2003, after a two-month term as prime minister of Azerbaijan, through a presidential election defined by irregularities shortly before his father's death. He was reelected for a second term in 2008 and was allowed to run in elections indefinitely in 2013, 2018 and 2024 due to the 2009 constitutional referendum, which removed term limits for presidents. Throughout his electoral campaign, Aliyev was a member of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party, which he has headed since 2005.

Freestyle wrestling has been traditionally regarded as Azerbaijan's national sport and today, the most popular sports in Azerbaijan are combat sportss, football and chess. It has also hosted the first European Games and 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games.
The National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, is an independent public organization, with a status of a legal entity, which passed registration in the Ministry of Justice of the Azerbaijani Republic. It is also known as the Azerbaijan National Olympic Committee and by the acronym AzMOK or AZMOC. The charter of the organization is recognized by the International Olympic Committee, in 1993. The organization represents the country at the international Olympic Games. It acts on the basis of the Olympic Charter and also the Law of the Azerbaijani Republic about enterprises and public organizations. Hasan Aliyev is an Azerbaijani World and European champion Greco-Roman wrestler. He competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the men's Greco-Roman 60 kg division. At the 2012 Olympics, he beat Stig-André Berge in the last 16 and Jung Ji-hyun in the quarterfinals before losing to Revaz Lashkhi in the semifinal. He was entered into the repechage, where he lost his bronze medal match to Zaur Kuramagomedov.
Revaz Lashkhi is a Georgian Greco-Roman wrestler, who competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics and won a silver medal in the men's Greco-Roman 60 kg category. He beat Sayed Abdelmoneim, then Zaur Kuramagomedov in the quarterfinal and Həsən Əliyev in the semi-final before losing to Omid Norouzi in the final.
Vladimer Khinchegashvili is a Georgian freestyle wrestler who competes in 55–61 kg categories. He won a silver medal at the 2012 Olympics and a gold at the 2016 Olympics. He also won a world title in 2015 and European titles in 2014, 2016 and 2017. In 2015, he was selected as Male Georgian Athlete of the Year by the Georgian Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs. The 1st European Games, also known as the 2015 European Games or Baku 2015, were the inaugural edition of the European Games, an international multi-sport event for athletes representing the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) of the European Olympic Committees. It took place in Baku, Azerbaijan, from 12 to 28 June 2015, and featured almost 6,000 athletes from 50 countries competing in 30 sports, including 15 summer Olympic and 2 non-Olympic sports.

Baku Sports Palace is an indoor arena located in Baku, Azerbaijan. Originally the arena is named as Palace of Hand Games until 2015. It is located near the Baku Boulevard on the Caspian Sea coast. It was built in 1974 and was renovated in 2015. The palace consists of 1736 seats.
