Major Dhyan Chand Sports College, Saifai, earlier known as Saifai Sports College is a college and sports academy in Saifai, Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh. It was established in 2014 in Saifai, Etawah district, Uttar Pradesh as Saifai Sports College by state government. [2] [3] It offers sports training in athletics, cricket, football, hockey, wrestling, kabaddi, swimming, badminton and judo in sixth to twelfth standard with the curriculum of U.P. Board. It is the third sports college established in Uttar Pradesh after Guru Gobind Singh Sports College of Lucknow and Beer Bahadur Singh Sports College in Gorakhpur. [4] [5]

It is a residential campus and due to it overall weight is borne by the government of Uttar Pradesh. The boy square of college gets sports training in cricket, football, hockey, wrestling, athletics, badminton, swimming and kabaddi as well as they get teaching from sixth to twelfth standard by the curriculum of Board of High School and Intermediate Education, Uttar Pradesh. [7] In this Sports College, number of trainees is determine as 560. In the first year 74 trainees started studying here.

The Arjuna Award, officially known as Arjuna Awards given for Outstanding Performance in Sports and Games, is the second-highest sporting honour of India, the highest being the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award. The award is named after Arjuna, one of the characters of the Sanskrit epic Mahabharata of ancient India. In Hinduism, he has been seen as a symbol of hard work, dedication and concentration. It is awarded annually by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Before the introduction of the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna in 1991–1992, the Arjuna award was the highest sporting honour of India. The nominations for the award are received from all government recognised National Sports Federations, the Indian Olympic Association, the Sports Authority of India (SAI), the Sports Promotion and Control Boards, the state and the union territory governments and the Major Dhyan Chandra Khel Ratna, Arjuna, Dhyan Chand and Dronacharya awardees of the previous years. The recipients are selected by a committee constituted by the Ministry and are honoured for their "good performance in the field of sports over a period of four years" at the international level and for having shown "qualities of leadership, sportsmanship and a sense of discipline." As of 2020, the award comprises "a bronze statuette of Arjuna, certificate, ceremonial dress, and a cash prize of 15 lakh (US$18,000)."

Kunwar Digvijay Singh, popularly known as "Babu", was an Indian field hockey player. He was born in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh. He is widely known for his passing ability and is considered by many to be the greatest dribbler of the game comparable only to Dhyan Chand.

It has a seating capacity of 43,000 people and has one of the largest scoreboard displays for a cricket stadium in India. There is an All-weather Swimming Pool, Athletics Stadium and an Indoor Stadium in the campus of the Sports College along with this cricket stadium. It was inaugurated on 1 June 2018, along with the Etawah Safari Park and Abhinav Vidyalaya, Saifai at a function in Etawah city.

Vikram Award is an award given by the Government of Madhya Pradesh, India, for outstanding performance in national and international competitions or contribution in the field of sports. The Vikram Award was instituted on May 15, 1990, with a purpose to acknowledge outstanding individual sporting achievements in events such as the Olympic Games, Asian Games, and National Games of India. It is the highest sports award in Madhya Pradesh, granted to athletes who are residents of the state and have competed in national and international senior-level competitions for a minimum of two years within the past five years. The award includes a cash prize of ₹2,00000, along with a blazer, tie, and certificate, presented by the Madhya Pradesh Government through the Madhya Pradesh Sports Authority. Provisions exist for offering government jobs to Vikram Awardees in Class III and IV category positions.
