Male Edition is the debut mixtape by American girl group June's Diary. It was released on June 29, 2017 through SoundCloud. [1] The mixtape features six covers of songs originally recorded by male groups Shai, Jodeci, Bell Biv DeVoe, The Deele, Jagged Edge, and The Beatles and one original song. [2]
On March 16, 2017, June's Diary released a new music video for their cover of Jodeci's "Stay" via their YouTube channel. [3] A behind the scenes video was released the following day via That Grape Juice's YouTube channel. [4]
The mixtape was received with positive reviews from critics. ThisisRnB praised the mixtape thus: "Combining their outstanding vocal talents, inspiration from ’90s R&B and adding their own modern vibes, the mixtape is sure to have fans everywhere hitting replay and wanting more." [5]
"Stay" was released as the first single from the mixtape on March 20, 2017. [6] The music video premiered four days before the song was released. [3]

Jodeci is an American R&B quartet with members DeVanté Swing, Mr. Dalvin, K-Ci, and JoJo. Formed in 1989 in Charlotte, North Carolina, Jodeci's members began their musical careers as two duos of brothers and, after years of limited success, joined forces. After signing with Uptown Records in 1991, the group began to work on their debut album, Forever My Lady, which brought them mainstream success with the Billboard Hot 100 single "Come and Talk to Me" and the album's titular track.
"Stay" is a song by American group Jodeci from their debut album Forever My Lady (1991). The song was the third single released in promotion for the album in December 1991. "Stay" was the group's second number one R&B hit, spending two weeks at number-one on the US R&B chart and peaked at number forty-one on the Billboard Hot 100. As this, it is also the opening track from Forever My Lady.
Jhené Aiko Efuru Chilombo is an American singer and songwriter who embarked on her music career contributing vocals and appearing in several music videos for R&B group B2K. At the time, she was known as B2K member Lil' Fizz's "cousin", though she is not actually related to him. It was used as a marketing tool, suggested by Sony and Epic Records to promote Aiko through the group and cultivate her own following. June's Diary is an American girl group formed by singer Kelly Rowland and director/choreographer Frank Gatson Jr. on the American reality television docu-series Chasing Destiny in 2016. The group consists of members Kristal Lyndriette Smith, Ashly Williams, Brienna DeVlugt, Gabrielle "Gabby" Carreiro and Shyann Roberts. They signed a deal with L.A. Reid's record label Epic Records, a division of Sony Music Entertainment, Inc. The group have supported various artists on tours, such as R. Kelly, Xscape & Jussie Smollett.
