Career

Manav Gohil began his career in the early 2000s after winning the “Man of Gujarat” pageant, which prompted him to shift from Vadodara to Mumbai to pursue acting professionally. He trained at Kishor Namit Kapoor’s acting academy.

His television debut came with the show Choodiyan in 2001. He quickly became a familiar face on Indian television through notable roles in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Kkusum, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, and C.I.D., establishing himself as a dependable lead and supporting actor during the golden era of Indian soap operas. [3]

Gohil also performed in theatre productions such as Kennedy Bridge by Khalid Mohammed and Lady from the Ocean by Illa Arun.

In 2006, Gohil took a break from television to focus on a film titled Bhanvraa. However, the project was shelved indefinitely, leading to a career hiatus that lasted nearly four years. In later interviews, he described this period as humbling and transformative, admitting he questioned his path and relied heavily on family and spiritual practice to navigate uncertainty. [4]

He returned to television with renewed focus, taking on diverse roles across genres. These included mythological dramas like Devon Ke Dev...Mahadev , fantasy comedies like Yam Hai Hum, and historical comedies such as Tenali Rama, where his performance as King Krishnadevaraya received widespread appreciation for its mix of humor and gravitas. [5]

In August 2020, Gohil started to play the male lead role of Keertan Tibrewal, a.k.a. K.T., opposite Rajshree Thakur and later Rati Pandey, in Star Plus's television series Shaadi Mubarak . [6]

In late 2021, Gohil appeared in the Sony TV drama Kaamnaa, where he played Vaibhav Kapoor, a suave, manipulative businessman who uses money and influence to get what he wants—including in matters of love, power, and custody. The character marked a shift for Gohil, who embraced the chance to play a layered antagonist. [7]

Beyond Hindi television, Gohil has also worked in regional cinema. He made his Gujarati film debut in Saptapadii (2013), produced by Amitabh Bachchan Corporation. The film ran for 12 weeks in theatres and was screened at international festivals, including Jaipur International Film Festival, where it earned a Special Mention. [8]

In 2023, he starred in Chandlo, another Gujarati film focused on relationships and community. In 2025, Jalebi Rocks and recently finished shooting Mauje Dariya, a comedy drama . [9]

Gohil also stepped into OTT with Matsyavedh (2023), a thriller drama. In 2024, Karate Girls on MX Player, a social drama about female empowerment, and has made brief appearances in Bollywood films such as Super 30 (2019), Baaghi 3 (2020), and Tribhanga (2021). Gohil is also to be a part of the 2025 action drama Dhurandhar.

Personal life

He was born in Surendranagar in Gujarat, and moved to Vadodara for his education. [1] He completed Bachelor in Commerce and then MBA from Vadodara. [10] He is married to TV actress Shweta Kawatra. [11] [12] They participated in the dance competition show Nach Baliye 2 where Manav was awarded best dancer by Saroj Khan. The couple became parents to a daughter on 11 May 2012. [13] The couple follows Nichiren Buddhism. [14] [15] [16] [17]
