Mangalam TV is a 24 hours Malayalam satellite news channel headquartered in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
On its launch day, [1] Mangalam TV, aired a telephonic audio clip in which Transport Minister AK Saseendran is allegedly heard speaking in a sexually explicit way to a person, [2] [3] whom the channel claimed was a housewife. [4] Saseendran resigned as minister the same day. It was Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan who had inaugurated the channel launch. [5]
Later, the channel CEO Ajith Kumar apologised and admitted that it was a sting operation done using a woman journalist of the channel [6] after having denied it earlier. [7]
On April 4, the CEO and four mediapersons of the channel were arrested by the police for airing “obscene conversation” and criminal conspiracy. [8] [9]
Later, Saseendran was acquitted in the case after the complainant, who had earlier alleged sexual harassment turned hostile in court and he returned as minister. [10] [11]

Kerala Kaumudi is a Malayalam language daily newspaper published from Kerala, India. It was founded in 1911 by C. V. Kunhiraman as a periodical. His son K. Sukumaran later served as the newspaper's editor. Joseph, a professor of Malayalam at Newman College, Thodupuzha, a Christian minority institution affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi University had his wrist disarticulated on allegation of blasphemy, by members of Popular Front of India, an Islamic organisation in India. The then Minister of Home Affairs of Kerala, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, made a statement that while government is aware that there is a local Dar-ul Khada set up by the Popular Front of India under the supervision of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, functioning to resolve civil disputes, there were no complaints received that it was passing "Taliban-model" orders.

A. K. Saseendran is an Indian politician serving as the Minister for Forests, Wild Life Protection, Government of Kerala in the second Pinarayi Vijayan ministry. He belongs to the Nationalist Congress Party and represents the Elathur constituency. He was previously elected to the Kerala Legislative Assembly in 1980, 1982, 2006, 2011 and 2016.
