Maria Fisker Stokholm (born 3 October 1990) is a Danish handball player for Viborg HK and the Danish national team. [1]
She was given the award of Cetățean de onoare ("Honorary Citizen") of the city of Bucharest in 2016. [2]
Maria Fisker started playing handball at Vissing-Hadsten HK. In 2005 she signed for Randers HK, but only stayed there for a year before signing for the Danish top club Viborg HK. She debuted for the Viborg team in 2007, 25 days before she turned 17. This made her the third youngest player in the Danish Handball League at the time. [3]
In 2015 she suffered a concussion that put her on the sidelines for the entire spring season. She had just signed for Romanian club CSM București, where she only played for a season.
She returned to Danish handball to join her former club Randers HK in 2016, where she played for 3 years, before re-joining Viborg HK. In 2019 Viborg HK signed her to replace Ann Grete Nørgaard, who had signed for SCM Ramnicu Valcea. [4]
Viborg HK is a Danish professional handball club from Viborg. The club has many teams for both women and men, but especially the professional women's team is one of the most successful in Danish and European handball since the beginning of the 1990s. This team currently competes in the women's Danish Women's Handball League.
Heidi Astrup is a former Danish team handball player and Olympic champion. She received a gold medal with the Danish national team at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. She is two times European champion, and received a bronze medal at the 1995 World championship.
Rikke Erhardsen Skov is a former Danish team handball player and Olympic champion. She received a gold medal with the Danish national team at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. A loyal player of Viborg HK, Skov joined the club yet as a teenager in 1994 and it remained her lone team till she retired in 2016 and retired from active sports when she became pregnant in February 2017.
Kristine Lunde-Borgersen is a retired Norwegian handballer who played for the Norwegian national team. She is Olympic champion, World Champion and three times European champion. She is the twin sister of fellow handball player Katrine Lunde. On 13 June 2017, she announced her return to playing handball for the 2017–2018 season, to replace Marta Tomac, who is out of play following a severe injury.

However, in June 2016 Popović announced she would come out of retirement and make herself available for selection by the Montenegro national handball team to compete at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
