Marishes Road railway station was a railway station on the York and North Midland Railway's branch line to Pickering. It opened on 5 July 1845, and until 1848 was called High Marishes, after the village of that name. [1] It closed on 8 March 1965 (although freight to Pickering continued for a further year). The last passenger to use the station was Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, who was in the royal train when it was stabled overnight in Marishes Road in June 1965, so the duke could visit RAF Fylingdales the next day. [2]
Since closure the main station buildings have remained intact, with the exception of the small wooden signal box which stood immediately north-east of the level crossing - which is now an exhibition as part of Pickering Station Trail on the NYMR. [3] All signals have also disappeared, including the fine NER lattice post up home signal.
The North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) is a heritage railway in North Yorkshire, England, that runs through the North York Moors National Park. First opened in 1836 as the Whitby and Pickering Railway, the railway was planned in 1831 by George Stephenson as a means of opening up trade routes inland from the then important seaport of Whitby. The line between Grosmont and Rillington was closed in 1965 and the section between Grosmont and Pickering was reopened in 1973 by the North York Moors Historical Railway Trust Ltd. The preserved line is now a tourist attraction and has been awarded several industry accolades.

Malton railway station is a Grade II listed station which serves the towns of Malton and Norton-on-Derwent in North Yorkshire, England. Situated on the York-Scarborough Line, it is operated by TransPennine Express, who provide all passenger train services. Once an interchange between four lines, Malton station is now only served by trains operating between York and Scarborough. The station itself is south of the River Derwent, and is actually in the town of Norton which used to be in the East Riding of Yorkshire, bordering Malton which was in North Riding. The Forge Valley Line was a 16-mile-long branch of the North Eastern Railway between Seamer and Pickering in North Yorkshire, England. The line was intended to link Scarborough with Pickering. It opened in 1882 and closed in 1950, with the exception of a stretch from Pickering to Thornton Dale which remained open for quarry traffic until 1963.
Kirby railway station was a railway station on the York and North Midland Railway's branch line to Pickering. Named after the village of Kirby Misperton, it opened in October 1845. It closed on 1 October 1858.
