Maru (Persian : مارو‎, also Romanized as Mārū)^[1] is a village in Kohurestan Rural District, in the Central District of Khamir County, Hormozgan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 269, in 61 families.^[2]

Persian, also known by its endonym Farsi, is one of the Western Iranian languages within the Indo-Iranian branch of the Indo-European language family. It is a pluricentric language primarily spoken in Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and some other regions which historically were Persianate societies and considered part of Greater Iran. It is written right to left in the Persian alphabet, a modified variant of the Arabic script.

Kohurestan Rural District is a rural district (dehestan) in the Central District of Khamir County, Hormozgan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 12,962, in 2,793 families. The rural district has 31 villages.

The Central District of Khamir County is a district (bakhsh) in Khamir County, Hormozgan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 35,917, in 7,645 families. The District has one city: Bandar Khamir. The District has two rural districts (dehestan): Khamir Rural District and Kohurestan Rural District.
