Robert John Hummel is an American former professional basketball player and current TV commentator. He played college basketball for Purdue University and for the Minnesota Timberwolves in the NBA. In 2019, Hummel was named USA Basketball Male Athlete of the Year. Since his retirement from professional basketball, Hummel has been an analyst for the Big Ten Network and Fox Sports. Hummel is a regular contributor for Westwood One Sports and Sirius XM.
Miles Christian Plumlee is an American former professional basketball player. He played four years of college basketball for the Duke Blue Devils, winning a national championship in 2010. He was selected with the 26th overall pick in 2012 NBA draft by the Indiana Pacers and went on to have a seven-year NBA career. He won an NBL championship with the Perth Wildcats in 2020.

They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament where they lost in the second round to Cincinnati.

They finished the season 26–9, 12–6 in Big Ten play to finish in a four-way tie for third place. As the No. 4 seed in the Big Ten tournament, they defeated Illinois and Michigan to advance to the championship game. In a closely fought championship game, they lost to Michigan State 66–62. The Boilermakers received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament as a No. 5 seed, their second straight trip to the Tournament. In the First Round, they were upset by No. 12-seed Little Rock 85–83 in double overtime.
Caleb Sylvester Swanigan was an American professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Purdue Boilermakers. He was ranked among the top prep players in the national class of 2015 by Rivals.com, Scout.com and ESPN. He completed his senior season in the 2014–15 academic year for Homestead High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana, who went on to win the first state championship in the school's history. Swanigan was named Indiana's Mr. Basketball and a McDonald's All-American.
The 2016–17 Purdue Boilermakers men's basketball team represented Purdue University in the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Their head coach was Matt Painter, in his 12th season with the Boilers. The team played their home games in Mackey Arena in West Lafayette, Indiana and were members of the Big Ten Conference. With their win over Indiana on February 28, 2017, Purdue clinched their first Big Ten Championship since 2009, 22nd overall. With Wisconsin's loss on March 2, Purdue clinched an outright championship, their 23rd championship, the most in Big Ten history. They finished the season 27–8, 14–4 in to win the Big Ten regular season championship. In the Big Ten tournament, they lost in the quarterfinals to Michigan. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament as the No. 4 seed in the Midwest Region where they beat Vermont and Iowa State to advance to the Sweet Sixteen. In their first trip to the Sweet Sixteen since 2010, they lost to No. 1-seeded and No. 3-ranked Kansas.
Gerad Michael Parker is an American college football coach and former player. He is the head football coach for Troy University, a position he has held since 2024. He was previously the offensive coordinator and tight ends coach at the University of Notre Dame and the offensive coordinator at West Virginia University. Parker played as a wide receiver at the University of Kentucky from 2000 to 2004 for head coaches Hal Mumme, Guy Morriss, and Rich Brooks. He served as the interim head coach at Purdue University for six games in 2016.
David Marshall Blough is an American professional football coach and former quarterback who is the assistant quarterbacks coach for the Washington Commanders of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Purdue Boilermakers and signed with the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent in 2019. Following an injury to Matthew Stafford and Jeff Driskel, Blough started the final five games of the Detroit Lions' 2019 season. He is married to Colombian-American hurdler Melissa Gonzalez.

Proctor began his college basketball career playing for the Iona Gaels but transferred after his freshman season to play for the High Point Panthers. Proctor developed into an All-Big South performer at High Point and averaged 19.5 points per game as a junior. Proctor transferred to play for the Purdue Boilermakers as a graduate transfer, averaging 9.0 points per game. He signed with the Vilpas Vikings in July 2020.
