Season 2 of the Indian Tamil-language competitive cooking reality TV show MasterChef India – Tamil . was released on SonyLIV [2] [3] on 22 April 2024. [4] The shows premiered on the television channel Kalaignar TV starting from 17 November 2024 on every Sunday at 12pm.

Koushik Shankar returned from Season 1, alongside new judges Rakesh Raghunathan and Shreeya Adka. [5] The Masterchef Tamil season 2 was announced on MasterChef India – Hindi episode on 20 November 2023. [6] The audition rounds were conducted in 2 cities across the statewide auditions - Coimbatore (2 November 2023), Chennai (4 November). Akash Muralidharan from Chennai won the season alongside the MasterChef trophy and 10 Lakh's prize money. [7]

Production

Development

The first season was produced by Endemol Shine India, and was aired on Sun TV in 2021. In end of 2023, after the completion of the first season (2021), the show was under the production of SonyLIV [11] buying its broadcasting rights of Tamil and Telugu versions. [12]

Release

The three judges were introduced on MasterChef India – Hindi season 8 episode on 20 November 2023. [13] The first promo was unveiled on 30 October 2023, featuring Koushik Shankar, Rakesh Raghunathan and Shreeya Adka. [14]

Endemol Shine India has been producing MasterChef India – Hindi since season 5 onwards through Star India and Sun TV Network with Innovative Film Academy co-producing it for other language versions. Sony Pictures Networks have purchased the rights of the franchise and has been producing the show in all the three languages since then. The show has since been premiered on SonyLIV.

Devaki Vijayaraman is an Indian home baker, television cook and a business owner, who hails from the town Trichy. She was the winner of MasterChef India – Tamil .

Sai Vignesh is an Indian Vocalist, Playback Singer, and Musician. His main training in music is in Carnatic, but he has also sung in other genres. He has released many tracks for solo projects, toured internationally, has performed with music legends like Ilaiyaraaja, SP Balasubramanyam, Shankar Mahadevan, and has been a successful playback singer for Tamil, Telugu and Kannada films. Sai Vignesh got noticed as a contestant in Airtel Super Singer 4. He made his debut in playback singing in 2018 with Eghantham, but solidified his place in the industry as a playback singer in 2022 with hits like Kurumugil from Sita Ramam and the blockbuster song Varaha Roopam from Kantara. Season 8 of the Indian Hindi language competitive reality TV series MasterChef India – Hindi premiered on SonyLIV on 16 October 2023. Vikas Khanna and Ranveer Brar returned as the judges for the show while Garima Arora was replaced by Pooja Dhingra. Mohammed Ashiq from Mangalore won the season and Nambie Marak finished as runner up.
