MasterChef Croatia (Croatian:MasterChef Hrvatska) is a Croatian competitive reality television cooking show based on the original British version of MasterChef . [1] [2]
The first season premiered on 21 March 2011 on Nova TV [3] and it was hosted by Jasna Nanut. [4] The series went on a hiatus after airing the third season in 2015. In 2021, the series returned with its fourth season and has since been on air regularly as a part of Nova TV's fall schedule. A seventh season is set to premiere in 2024. [5]
The judges in the first season were Tomislav Gretić, a famous Croatian chef, Mate Janković, one of the youngest Croatian chefs, and Radovan Marčić, a director and a writer. [6] [7]
For the 2021 reboot of the series, a brand new panel of judges was introduced: Damir Tomljanović, Melkior Bašić and Stjepan Vukadin were the main judges for the fourth, fifth and sixth season. Tomljanović and Bašić are set to be replaced with Goran Kočiš and Mario Mihelj for the upcoming seventh season. [8]

Season 6 ran from 4 September to 29 December 2023, concluding after 61 episodes.
Auditions for season 7 opened in March 2024. [5] For the first time since season 4, the judging panel is set to be revamped: Damir Tomljanović and Meltkior Bašić are set to be replaced with Goran Kočiš and Mario Mihelj; Stjepan Vukadin will, however, remain on the panel. [8]

Presidential elections were held in Croatia on 27 December 2009 and 10 January 2010. Twelve candidates participated in the first round, prior to a run-off between first-round winner Ivo Josipović and runner-up Milan Bandić. In the run-off, Josipović won a landslide victory, receiving 60.3% of the vote becoming the first elected president nominated by the Social Democratic Party of Croatia (SDP). It is the Croatian version of the British television series Strictly Come Dancing and is a part of the global Dancing with the Stars television franchise. Ivan Ivančić was a Croatian athletics coach and shot putter who represented Yugoslavia. He was the gold medalist in the 1975 Mediterranean Games, as well as a multiple national champion and record holder. As a coach, Ivančić specialized in the throwing events, and was best known for coaching Sandra Perković, an Olympic and two-time World discus throw champion.

The murder of the Zec family occurred in Zagreb, Croatia on 7 December 1991, during the Croatian War of Independence, when a squad of five Croatian militiamen shot dead three members of a Serb family: Mihajlo Zec, his wife Marija, and their 12-year-old daughter, Aleksandra. Two other Zec children escaped. The murderers were apprehended, but released after a controversial court decision in 1992.

Jacques Houdek is a Croatian recording artist who represented Croatia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 with the song "My Friend". Houdek began his professional solo career in 2000 and has since released many recordings and albums out which 13 have been certified silver, gold, platinum and diamond (once). Houdek is one of the mentors in the Croatian version of the TV talent show The Voice. During show's first season, he mentored the winner Nina Kraljić. Aside from Croatian, he has sung and recorded in English, Italian, German, Spanish, French, Slovene, Macedonian, and Māori language.
Zdravko Marić is a Croatian economist and politician who served as the Minister of Finance from 2016 and a Deputy Prime Minister from 2019, until his resignation from both positions in 2022. He was the first non-partisan holder of the office in Croatia's post-independent history.
The Green–Left Coalition was a left-wing electoral alliance in Croatia represented by six MPs. We Can! – Political Platform is a left-wing, green political party in Croatia formed by local green and leftist movements and initiatives in order to act on the national level for European Parliament and parliament elections. After the 2021 local elections in Zagreb, they became the largest political party in the Zagreb Assembly, winning 23 seats in total. Their mayoral candidate Tomislav Tomašević won a landslide victory on 31 May 2021.
Elections were held in Zagreb on 16 May 2021 for the 53rd mayor of Zagreb, the two deputy mayors, the 47 members of the Zagreb Assembly, the councils of districts and the local committees, as part of the 2021 Croatian local elections. The runoff for the mayor took place on 30 May 2021.
A presidential election is scheduled to be held in Croatia on 29 December 2024, with a second round on 12 January 2025 if no candidate receives a majority. Incumbent president Zoran Milanović is eligible for a second term. His first term began on 19 February 2020 and will end on 18 February 2025.
