Mathilde Cini (born 18 November 1994) is a French swimmer. [2]
She competed at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships and at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. [2]
Born in Briançon, Mathilde Cini moved with her family during childhood to Montmeyran in the Drôme. She began her sporting career with triathlon at the age of seven, before devoting herself exclusively to swimming, the triathlon discipline in which she is most at ease in competition.
In 2010, she took part in the Youth Olympic Games, winning gold in the 50-meter backstroke. At the age of eighteen, Mathilde Cini heads for Paris and the INSEP, where a 50-meter pool is at her disposal, unlike in Valence. [3]
After winning all three backstroke titles (50, 100 and 200 meters) [4] at the 2014 French Short Course Championships, at the World Short Course Championships in Doha, she and her teammates won the bronze medal in the 4 x 50 m medley relay, during which she beat the French 50 m backstroke record held by Laure Manaudou in 26 s 61. Laure Manaudou is a retired French Olympic, world and European champion swimmer. She has held the world record in freestyle events between 200 and 1500 meter. She is the daughter of a French father and a Dutch mother, and she is the older sister of Florent Manaudou who is also an Olympic gold medalist swimmer.

Ranomi Kromowidjojo is a retired Dutch swimmer of mixed Dutch-Javanese Surinamese origin who mainly specialises in sprint freestyle events. Joanna Lindsay Fargus is a British-Australian former swimmer who specialised in the 200-metre backstroke. In this event she won a gold medal at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, and at the European Short Course Swimming Championships 2000 and a bronze medal at the 2001 World Aquatics Championships; she finished ninth at the 2000 Summer Olympics. She also competed in freestyle, winning a gold medal in the 4×200-metre relay at the 2002 Commonwealth Games.
Olivia Smoliga is a 2X Olympian and American competitive swimmer who specializes in backstroke and freestyle events. She won a record eight gold medals at the 2018 World Championships, becoming the first swimmer, male or female, to win eight or more gold medals in a single FINA World Swimming Championships or FINA World Aquatics Championships. Smoliga is the current American record-holder in the 50-meter backstroke. She is also the current Guinness World Record holder for "most gold medals won at a single FINA World Championships" by an individual swimmer. At the 2016 Summer Olympics held in Rio de Janeiro, she won a gold medal for swimming the backstroke leg in the preliminary heat of the 4x100-meter medley relay.
Kira Marije Toussaint is a Dutch competitive swimmer who specialises in backstroke. She is the former world record holder in the short course 50 metre backstroke and the Dutch record holder in the long course 50 metre backstroke and 100 metre backstroke, and the short course 50 metre, 100 metre, and 200 metre backstroke. She also holds the European record in the long course and short course 50 metre backstroke. At the 2021 FINA Swimming World Cup, Toussaint placed second overall for a competitor of any gender in terms of total points scored and earned 11 gold medals.
